You are all such a wonderful group of people and I feel so lucky to have found this group that I am know there is strength in numbers as well as strength in prayers.
My accountant who is also a very good friend of ours has a 28 year old son who was diagnosed a few years ago with some type of tumor at the base of his brain. They said it was genetic. He had surgery, suffered stroke like symptoms and has been in therapy for a limp and loss of range of motion in his arm and shoulder. He has made a remarkable recovery...especially to his outlook on life (as he was very depressed after this occurred). This past Monday night he was admitted back to the hospital for bleeding of the brain...and now must undergo a surgery that will cause him even greater problems. He will lose the ability to swallow and breath...and must be fed via a stomach tube and will be on a breathing tube for at least a month until the doctors are convinced his body will breath on its own. The doctors said the chances of this happening once were crazy but happening twice is unheard of...most people would have died. Needless to say "Joey's" outlook is grim...he is extremely depressed...he will again lose all the motor skills he has worked so hard to regain...and because he is 28 (not a kid) his parents have no say in his medical decisions. Luckily he has opted for the surgery but his depression is so severe there is always the chance that he could just give up and refuse treatment at which time the worst is inevitable. Anyway, sorry for rambling...this is just such a wonderful family and I can not imagine the pain they are all experiencing...as the surgery is a huge risk in itself as he may not regain the ability to breath or swallow again like last time. Surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. If you could please keep Joey in your prayers we would all be so greatly appreciative. Sorry, just made myself cry typing all this...have to go get myself together.
Thank you all...I have such great faith in the power of prayer that I hope he pulls through and fights the depression. I'll keep you all posted.

My heart goes out to Joey and everyone who's close to him...it is hard. Perhaps we can send him cards? Prayers and well wishes are great, but for him to get cards(a visual)he would see how many people are rooting, praying, and thinking of him, would cheer him up to know he is thought of by many, and would perhaps give him the strength to get through this one more time.

I will pray for Joey and his family. Is there a way to do a card shower for him? Maybe that would lift his spirits, knowing that others care for him too. My son is almost 29, he has a slow growing brain tumor, he's had multiple health problems since birth and even had two brain surgeries. So I know how his family must feel. Hugs, Rebekka

Thank you also for the offer of a card shower...honestly, I'm not sure how he would respond to that...he may actually be embarrassed that I posted his situation (for all to see)...he is very self-conscious about his condition.
So, for now I think the prayers will help him the most...I don't want to add to his worries having him wonder why I posted his medical issues on the internet...I just believe so strongly in the power of prayer that I'm hopeful that together we can make a difference!
Thank you all so much.
