I went to hang up some luandry and my hot water heater was leaking sure enough the tank was cracked i have no idea what we will do for thanksgiving or stuff for xmas a new one cost 279.00 +tax we have to have it this just sucks i feel so beat down and depressed i called some local churches to try to get a food basket for thanksgiving i just get so angry sometimes and all i want to do is cry im so depressed ....we had enough left on our lowes card to get the new hot water heater but that was it and now the monthly payments will go up and we are bareky getting by now im definitely feeling blue thanks for listening you guys are great i just need to know that someone cares

---heated water in big pots on the stove and poured it over the shower curtain for each other using a watering can---it's amazing how little water you can shower with IF you have to do it that way

good luck i know what it's like not to have a water heater. mine died in my lil ugly trailer years ago and i was flat broke!

Or did you make one up? I've had my hot water/or water go out completly here in my building and had gone out a couple of times since I lived here, went out last year during winter and we had to wait 4 days before it was replaced. I think it would be a good idea for me to get a watering can and keep it handy for times when it would really be needed. plmk, where you got this.

don't know if you have a REMC (Rural Electric Membership Corporation)for electric there, but here it's very rural and everyone in the country has it for electric by county. (Fulton county is Fulton County REMC, here it is KVREMC..Kankakee Valley 'REMC)anyhoo..they offer new energy efficient water heaters for just the installation fees. They set it I guess so it supposedly heats on the 'off hours' but honestly we have hot water 24/7 and have never seen the difference and we use hot water around the clock here off and on..showers, dishwasher, handwashing daughters medical supplies etc. ..never have been without hot water. It only cost us $75 for it and it's the same size capacity as the water heater we had before..a really large one at that.
Might be worth looking into your electric company to see if they offer something like that or maybe even your gas company as well. Never know unless you check it out. It will be under warranty and everything ..the whole shot.
