It's so good to be back home in VA. Even though I'm a Cali girl born and raised, I've always felt Virginia was my home. I love it here and no matter how many times we move away, we always come back. ...we woke to a bit more than a dusting this morning~ now that my son's 16 and we've lived here a while, he STILL gets excited, it just needs to be several inches AND school needs to be cancelled.....lol.

We moved to San Jose, Calif., from Indiana (where I was born) when I was about 10 yrs. old. I met my (now ex) husband there when I was 25 or so and we made our home there for about half of our married years, until he got transferred w/his job, to Boise, Idaho.
My ex just hated living in Idaho----for several reasons, one of which was the Winters. Once we divorced he moved right back to Cali.!! He lives there now with my oldest son, 19. They both are living right back in the old condo that my ex owned when we first married---it's so weird...I always say, it seems like he went *back* in time, while I moved forward.
Anyway, our snow from this morning is all melted off now...boo hoo. But, in due time, I am sure there will be lots more this Winter.

My mom's parents are from Indiana. Some of her siblings were born there, she was born in California. Okay now when I hear that song "Do you know the way to San Jose" I'm gonna think of you. LOL. I was born and raised in Southern Cali, but prefer Northern Cali best. Ours is mostly melted, but they are predicting more. Hugs, Rebekka

I am near Ft. Wayne, about 30 min's. outside of FWayne, actually. I was born in Anderson, IN and have relatives there (my father's whole side of the family), but they disowned me when I moved in w/Ron, and being married now has done nothing to change their judgemental attitudes!! Next c/o pkg. I send you---I'll enclose a new pic of me & Ron, I think I have some extras from our recent trip to the Covered Bridge Festival, in Oct. Then you can "see" who you've been chatting with all this time!!

My mom said we had cousins in Anderson, not sure their names though, it's been years. I know that my grandparents lived in or around Gary, IN. I'll have to check with my mom to make sure. We get some snow here in Southern Oregon too and there is skiing on Mt. Ashland. The funny thing is that I have spent the last 20 years living in places where skiing is good and it is the last thing I would ever do. I have enough trouble just walking across the room without falling down, LOL. Stick skis on me an I would break something for sure.
Shelly and Rebekka, I am also from CA (near Sacramento originally). I escaped the hot weather, crowds and general craziness and love the Northwest. I prefer cold weather to hot although I hate driving in snow.
