My husband has been asked to take a pay cut beginning in Jan, and we don't want to do that. So, we are thinking of moving to the Raleigh area. Both my husband & I went to NC State, and his brother, 2 sisters, and parents all live there now, so we are pretty familiar with at least the main roads.

I need to know where the best places to look for a house would be? We are currently homeschooling, but depending on the job situation, I'd like to keep my options open and look for the best school district possible. Usually housing values are better there, too. However, I know that some schools in Raleigh are year-round and some are not. My kids would be in 5th, 3rd, and 1st next year--I've heard rumors that they can split up kids in a family to different schools--any validity to this? Also, I know that redistricting is often in Raleigh, so are there areas surrounding good schools that haven't been redistricted a bunch--possibly farther out of town? We don't mind a little bit of a drive, especially if the trade is a good school district and possibly a bigger lot.

Any advice? Feel free to e-mail me directly.
