11 0|0|Best non-allergic laundry detergent? What do you use for fabric softener?|hudge4|hudge95@yahoo.com|10:17:40|11/14/2008|

My skin is sooooooo itchy its driving me batty! Not only itchy, but will go as far as 'burning' in some spots. I am allergic to something but don't know what. I am using the same detergent and fabric softener I always do and I can't think of anything thats different. I use All Small & Mighty white bottle fragrance free and Snuggle green bottle.

It's got to be the laundry since my back and stomach area & back of my legs & arms are most affected. Theres no rash except for behind the arms.

Any ideas to try and what do you use to soften the clothes if not fabric softener? I used to use sheets, but those made me itch for sure.

why don't you just wash your clothes in hot water only (with no detergent)? At least maybe try this with a few outfits several times to get the residue out, and then see if that makes the difference. If it seems to work, you could always add some vinegar to the truly dirty clothes wash to get them clean.

When my youngest son was small, he had sensitive skin so I did that with his baby clothes with good results. And they were not yucky or stinky or anything like that. Anything that was dirty, I was in detergent and then just rewashed in plain hot water again.

HTH..I know I get dry skin in the winter and itchiness drives me NUTS!

additives especially the soapy stuff that stays in your clothes and irritates your skin. It takes some getting used to though because even though it works real well it does not make alot of soap bubbles in your clothes so like me you might be tempted to add more until you see bubbles but at that point your clothes are overloaded with soap.... I can tell you that from experience lol 3|1|have you tried to double rinse them|ab6333|aimee@accountant.com|11:11:59|11/14/2008|

That is what I have to do for my daughter.
I still wash everything in Tide but then I put through the rinse cycle twice.
If I don't do that she gets rashes too.

talked to the nurse about this and showed her my ugly rash. She said it looked like some allergy to a chemical and made an appointment for this Wednesday. She said the Dr will do a patch test of common chemicals to see what it is. Plus she gave me a bunch of allergy meds to take instead of Benedryl (which does nothing).

Great idea ablout double rinsing my clothes and even the eco detergent. Will look for that today. Thanks for the help!

I used to itch, and scratch, those hard-to-reach places so much that the only way I could show off in a yoga class involved the arm flexibility postures.

I use major brands "FREE" formulations (whatever is on sale) and rinse twice when I'm not at coin-operated machines. But I think the biggest difference was switching away from 'deoderant' soaps--there's an ingredient in it that I'm probably allergic to. I use the tea tree oil soap I get at Trader Joe's but that just one of many possibilities. I also wear cotton or other natural fiber shirts. 7|2|I got the same thing about a month ago from the All concentrated x2 one. It took like 2 weeks to go away. I just washed my washer out with vinager to rid of all the residue and clean it then switched back to the detergent I used before which is tide. And used lots of calamine lotion lol.|sarahjones|s.scottjones@comcast.net|17:23:24|11/15/2008|

Sarah S. Jones 8|1|Food allergy? Does this happen after you eat something? I have had hives come on and itchy patches when I took Nexium for tummy and an antihistamine for allergies (I know, weird, but true). Don't rule out food allergies as you can get them later in life. I found I am allergic to wheat and sensitive to blue food dyes (probably why Nexium not so great for me.) Quit both, tummy improved with wheat avoidance and started getting allergy shots instead. Much better.|Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|18:01:08|11/15/2008|
