Can I just take in my empty prescription bottle that shows that I have 4 refills left on the prescription into Wal-Mart and get a 3-month supply for $10?

it will be more. I forget how it's worded. DD has an Rx that she takes 1 tablet twice a day. We've been paying $25 for a 3 month supply thru our insurance. I was excited that the 3 month supply would now be $10. When I took it in, it's $20, b/c the recommended dosage is 1 tablet a day, and she takes 2. Not as good as $10/3 months, but still $5 cheaper, plus I like being able to pick it up "at will", rather than having to order and wait on it.
