Ok, here is my newest pic - lol - It was taken today during an eye exam...
http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o248/StumblingRobin/noname-1.jpg

I went and saw my neurologist today. We have come to the conclusion that I am suffering with migrains AND fibromyalgia. Most people that have the malformation of the brain that I do suffer from one or both, so it is no big shock. Tomoorow I will go and take my prescription in for lyrica. Were sure it will be refused the first time and the insuance will want a reason for me to take it. Well I have been on 5 or 6 meds over the years that should have helped with the pain, but haven't. Once they get that info I should get lyrica without a problem.
Is anyone here on Lyrica for this?
Does it really work as well as they say?
How quickly did it start to work? 1|1|I have a family member on Lyrica for fibromyalgia. I seem to recall forwarding info to them several months ago when it first came out that Lyrica could be used to treat it. I hope you don't have a problem getting it filled - I'd imagine that it isn't an off-label use anymore for fibromyalgia. Good luck Robin. I don't know how well it is working for her... wish I could help there. |Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|19:28:02|11/12/2008|

I was on Lyrica for nerve damage but I stopped it myself. I realized my symptoms were getting alot worse instead of better. I had blurry vision and muscle spasms and the doctor kept saying I needed to get adjusted to it and he wanted me up to 500 mg. "Hello!" lol By the time I was up to 200 mg at night and 150 in the day, I couldn't even function right. I could only function at the moment and you need to think and plan ahead w/5 kids. I know Lyrica works for other people and doctors swear by it but it didn't work for me.. Hope you have better results.

Hugs

I just saw some info on FM and Lyrica. They are finding out neat stuff about FM. They have shown it is related to a sleep disorder of a specific type. Many, many people have both FM and migranes (I have CFS & migranes, another big overlap.)

There are two drugs approved to treat FM - Lyrica and Cymbalta. The two approved drugs work in different ways - Lyrica is a drug that is used to treat epilepsy and Cymbalta is a drug that is also used to treat depression and anxiety. The data I saw on Lyrica looked really good, I haven't taken it myself. For my CFS, I took Prozac (similar to Cymbalta) and that did help. Another drug is being reviewed by the FDA right now, and may be approved in 2009.

One of the things that really helped my CFS (Its not the same disease but there is lot of overlap) is improvements in sleep. I had a sleep study (where you stay overnight and they attach electrodes to your body) and found out that I didn't have sleep apnea or anything like that. So, then they gave me drugs to help me sleep. After I had used them for a while, I started to really improve. After several years on those drugs, I am now totally off drugs - use only melatonin to help me sleep- and have no CFS symptoms anymore. (I am not totally normal, don't have the stamina I used to have, but am lots and lots better.)

This info on FM talked about the importance of sleep - they called it good sleep hygeine, all the stuff that they tell you about how to improve your sleep. They also talked about doing as much exercise as you can tolerate, and how that can help your sleep.

8|2|I seem to have both FM and migranes ... I am being tested by a few doctors right now. Before I started back to school a year ago I was sleeping 9-10 hours a night (m)|RobinsCrazyWorld|robinmarie72@gmail.com|18:43:55|11/20/2008|

I ask my doctor if I should worry about sleeping so much and he said if I was waking up refreshed and not groggy I am ok.
Since school started my sleep has been a mess. Now mind you I have had 2 operations and 5 months of major mystery pain (ended up with one of the 2 surgeries) so that has been a cause of some of my sleep issues, but i should be past that by now. Maybe I should start getting into a better sleep pattern??

Did Lyrica cause any weight gain??

I was approved for Lyrica and started yesterday. If it does not work, i will ask about the other med you mentioned. 9|3|migraines|momtosix|markncarol6@charter.net|14:18:12|11/21/2008|
