I hate Providians credit card. It's 33%!! All of my other credit cards range from 7 to 19%. Capital One is great because it's very low interest (7%) and I like my AT&T mastercard. It's also very low interest. American Express has great customer service.

5|1|I love my Discover Rewards card....my APR is only 8.99% (they just lowered it, but I pay off the balance every month)....I've had the same account for 22 yrs :) Earn lots of Rewards for GCs or you can get it in form of a check, or apply it towards your balance. :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|17:10:29|11/10/2008|

but are still useful for accumulating miles--United has a free Mileage Plus Visa (I have that, to complement my jetBlue Amex, which I can't use everywhere) and there's something like that for American's Mastercard, too. They have benefits for travel: car rental collision waivers and the like. I pay in full every month so I don't know what the interest rates are.

My favorite card is the jetBlue Amex, but that's because I like getting awards on jetBlue. Under the current award structure there's no extra fee for last minute travel, and I do a lot of that. The fee is more than offset by ticket discounts available to card holders and share-the-love promotions on board. Every time I've had to call them I've gotten absolutely excellent service by American workers.

Almost everyone I know has a 'lost my credit card while on vacation and had to cancel all my direct payments to several utility companies, Netflix, and the gym' story so it's probably good to have one just for payments that never leaves the house.
