9 0|0|Got denied on the MRI for my ankle from the insurance company---|Mackiesmudder|Mackiesmudder@aol.com|01:22:05|10/24/2008|

they want me to go to physical therapy. I just don't understand that, looks like a half a tennis ball on my ankle it is so swollen. The Doctor said pysical therapy 3x a week for 3 weeks, yeah at $30 a visit co-pay. No way I can do that with work schedule AND the money. We settled on 1x a week for 4 weeks, this just drags on. So ridiculous. I just get to be in pain longer. I guess I have to do the physical thrapy or they can deny claims if this turns out to be something worse. I'm thinking that they are thinking if I need surgery it goes into next year when all deductibles start again, grrrrr.

Would a second opinion help??...Be sure to see a new Doctor in nearby county, not his associate to see if surgery is needed or other therapy is needed...Good luck. 2|1|Did you see a podiatrist? I wrecked my ankle chasing after my dog and was misdiagnosed by a NP (who refused xray when I asked and who didn't even lay a hand on my ankle to examine it) so if you haven't gone to a foot doc, can you? PT is great for many things, but unless you get a qualified person to look at your foot, then you could wreck it more. The podiatrist I finally went to was so sorry since had I come to him sooner, I could have avoided surgery. Instead, I hobbled around on a wrecked ligament that eventually couldn't hold my weight anymore :(|Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|07:46:29|10/24/2008|

having my own battle right now. My daughter got thrown from a horse a month ago, and had a slight concussion. The bill was 2600, they paid the doctor, but are denying the emergency room bill, unless we sign over the right for them to sue. This happened at a friends house and was no ones fault and we will pay the bill before we let them sue, just makes me so mad.

Hope things work out for you and that your ankle heals up quickly

they are letting us fill in the blanks on this paper we have to sign, with "Does Not Apply", so they will be picking up our daughtes bill, with no worry of them trying to sue someone now.

I really hope your insurance company changes their mind too.

8|1|That stinks :( I think the providers and insurance are sometimes in cahoots with each other to generate services and expense...I think it would be a good idea to get a second opinion and keep complaining to your doctor about the pain and swellling...if the therapists shares her professional opinions with you that therapy may not help, ask her to document that in her progress notes and send them to your doctor....hope your feeling better asap, Cathie..hugs to you :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|16:16:56|10/25/2008|

Did they take plain (x-ray)films when you first hurt your ankle? (I'm assuming it was from an injury.) If so ask for the films to be repeated. Some fractures do show up later. If nothing else it might also give the Radiologist a reason to suggest in his report that further studies, aka MIR, be done. Insurance companies hate seeing stuff like that in writing. HTH
