..Thanksgiving day, pre-dinner. I'm hosting this year, as Ron's family takes turns hosting each holiday meal. This year we are showing off our new home we built!!

Anyway, I ahve roughly 26 people coming, maybe up to 30. I need appetizer ideas---for some reason all I can think of right now is:

Cheese & cracker tray
vegi tray w/Ranch dip

What other things do YOU serve before the big dinner that day??

Thanks,
Shelly 1|1|deviled eggs :) also how about green giant savorings? perhaps those would go over well, and with the 1/1 co they should be pretty inexpensive. hth :)|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|08:24:28|10/23/2008|

2|1|ham roll cheese ball or corned beef ball or Deviled Eggs|lablover77|lablover77@comcast.net|08:29:05|10/23/2008|

Ham roll is simply that. Instead of rolling up ham w/cream cheese, take the ham and cut into very small pieces. Cut up green onion same way, mix with cream cheese and form into a ball. Roll in bread crumbs, serve with crackers.

Corned beef ball--hormel corned beef, 1 cup sour cream, 1 T beet horseradish. mix together and form into ball. chill. take brick of room temp cream cheese and spread all over. Serve with reubeschlager mini breads (I prefer pumpernickle)

HTH...now I am hungry! 4|2|Deviled eggs are part of our dinner...|shelly|shellysue49@gmail.com|08:37:48|10/23/2008|

..it's hubby's family that does this. They also eat off the turkey and trimmings later than same night at the hosts' house, which I admit I find rude. My family usually skips lunch and we eat the big meal around 3-4pm, depending on how large a bird I'm roasting. I am going to get a HUGE turkey, plus have a spiral glazed ham, for such a large gathering. I am asking everyone to bring at least one potluck item which I've designated. However, dh and I are footing the bill for the meat ($$!) and cases of beer + cases of soda. In addition, I'll be preparing the mashed potates & gravy, the stuffing, the deviled eggs, the cranberry sauce as well as a Walnut pie (similar to Pecan, delish!!). So, I was hoping for *some* leftovers as I have company thru that entire week and plus it's costing us a bundle to provide *most* of the food. I think offering your guests the ONE big dinner should be enough...but DH maintains that some will get hungry and expect to nosh on whatever has already been wrapped up and stored away!! I think that is rude because it puts additional work on the host, who's already prepared and cleaned up after the big dinner!
