I keep thinking that were going to see more printable coupons since they will get us to spend and not cost the companies as much as they would if they put them in the Sunday paper. 1|1|I been seeing on my local news lately about non couponer starting to use coupons and stores reporting a surge in coupon use from the ss..|HONEY11|HONEY1@AMERITECH.NET|21:46:43|10/22/2008|

I think we will see more ss coupons and companies competing more than ever. Printables I don't think they will just go with that option, as I am sure they have someone count the one's redeem and are seeing that many of us cannot use printables as our stores don't accept them, and also they have to worry more about the scammers copying printables and selling them or using them. Plus a lot of people low income do not have internet, and sometimes librarys are far to get to, or just not worth hunting for hours for a coupon on line..

** Also I know people who don't use coupons, but will scan through the ones in the ss to see what new products are out at the grocery store. So even if they don't use the coupons, it is advertisement for the company and a possible customer may purchase without using a coupon at all. I know some people who buy stuff they've seen in their and don't even bother using the coupons..they feel it's a waste of time. Not my idea of how I would spend my money, but I guess to each their own.. 2|1|I have switched to store brand for lots of things|LindaOh|Martinl3@roadrunner.com|22:39:57|10/22/2008|

they are so much cheaper and some things are just as good. I still buy certain things like Miricle Whip and name brand ketchup and cereal as I like the taste better but have switched to store brands for most other things I try it once to see if we like it and if its ok just buy it Linda 3|2|Linda, I have also switched a lot of products to store brand and I also do a lot of shopping at aldis for my canned soups/ veggies etc|HONEY11|HONEY1@AMERITECH.NET|22:49:36|10/22/2008|

They don't take coupons at aldis but products are still way cheaper than brand names with a coupon.

4|3|I get the name brands even cheaper than store brands with my couponing...I just get them enmasse when they go on the lowest bare bottom sale with coupons (and preferably catalinas). About 15 years ago in my pre couponing days I did store brands. Not so much anymore. |Barb09|Barb0969@AOL.com|22:53:07|10/22/2008|

}}There is also a trend to buy food from the Dollar stores{heard on Jim Cramer}.these stores are really profiting in this depression,btw...i buy my extra papers there for $1...Iris 6|1|same here - until I started couponing, I never bought the name brands - now when people come to my house they see nothing but name brand stuff, and if they didn't know any better, they'd think I was a money-waster or rich or just spoiled to name brand items...I always tell my kids we wouldn't have 1/4 of the name brand stuff we do if I didn't coupon (funny how the word "coupon" doubles as an action word, huh?)...they really do appreciate it now, and they even help me "do the deals"... Just like when we get different regional coupon inserts. A friend of mine who used to work for the printing company that does the SmartSource inserts told me that it's all demographics. Here in New England we tend to NOT get great coupons because we are considered to be economically better off than other parts of the country. And we tend to get more $1 coupons around here -- nobody doubles $1 in this area. I would take a $.75 coupon over a $1 any day, but I trade a lot of $1 coupons to many of you around the country because your stores do double them.

There are also some coupons that I NEVER see here... of course, because I want to tell you which ones they are, not a single one is coming to mind. And winetags? Forget it. I think if they exist then there must be people with far more time than me who scoff them up immediately.

In Massachusetts we can't even use a coupon for milk. No way, no how. I have convinced my Hannaford to take coupons for Silk Milk by telling them I don't think it's really milk since it doesn't come from a cow. It's now dairy and shouldn't be considered as such. Massachusetts has a law of some sort to protect dairy farmers. However, we can use coupons for cheese and beef. Are they not cow-produced?!!!

Personally, I hope we see more and more coupons. I know I can't survive without them and I know most of you can't either. 8|2|What a strange law..|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|13:00:20|10/23/2008|

usually the milk coupons I have used are being paid for by some other company, so their would be no way it would hurt dairy farmers.

9|3|I don't see how they hurt to begin with... but yes, definitely a weird law. I think it may be because we used to have so many dairies here|whitmarg|robin@whitmannet.com|13:54:59|10/23/2008|

I'm lucky because the restaurant I work at sells the Sunday paper for a discount so lots of customers buy them and the ones who leave them on the table when they leave I can grab the inserts I usually get 5-10 of each insert this way. There is one customer who sits in my section every Sunday and he brings in the Chicago paper. That's when I found out how bad our coupons are. The inserts in his paper are about double the size of ours. We rarely get any frees or pet coupons in our inserts. Our course I have 2 cats and a 100 pound dog who all have very healthy appetites, lol. I'd love to get some good pet coupons in our inserts. The ones we do get are awful like $1.00 off 24 cans of Fancy Feast. 11|5|maddysmom, you must be talking about the chicago tribune, as that is a great newspaper for coupons we get here in chicago.|HONEY11|HONEY1@AMERITECH.NET|15:16:14|10/23/2008|

We also have chicago sun times, but often some coupons are missing or none in their at all.

It's funny how excited I get when he leaves his paper behind on the table Now that I found out I'll be able to do the K-mart doubles I might buy a few copies from the gas station to build up my coupon stash. 14|5|I LOVE the Chicago Tribune. They are $1 at Menards too. So, I get 5-10 a week depending on what is in them (plus the 2 homedelivered ones, lol)|Barb09|Barb0969@AOL.com|17:51:46|10/23/2008|

At one time I used to be able to get ahold of both of those on Sundays. That was at the local pharmacy but after the pharmacist got busted for shady biz dealings & the pharmacy got shut down, I'm back to the pathetic coupons in the local Sunday paper. :( I tried subbing to the Star Trib (Metro & non-Metro areas) to get it by mail but they evidently don't include SS coupons in the mailed subscriptions as there were never any in it so I cancelled my subscription......

and out major stores will not accept internet coupons. we also do not get wine tags so it will be interesting so see what the downturn in the economy does for the couponer.

The SS coupons are pathetic here & the few coupons that are in them are pretty much any amount off 2 or more - very, very seldom are there good ones like $1/1 - mostly 50¢/1 if that, & LOTS of advertising "fillers". :-p Wine tags, like forms around here, are even more scarce. IF (BIG if) I ever find any wine tags, there's always a wine purchase required.
I have to trade for about 90% of all good coupons &/or forms.... And stores around here NEVER double much less triple, altho I haven't run into any problems yet w/internet printed coupons. Wondering how long that will last....

thats why your sale ads match the coupons each week notice how short the dates are compared to a few years ago. This started after a few companies got spanked for trying to eliminate coupons.
