I know I haven't updated in awhile, so thought I'd post this email I sent to my family about our update. I also wanted to say we are moving to Virginia in two weeks. That is why I've been selling so many things, just trying to downsize and also have money for our trip. With the news Will's dr. gave us, it upset him somewhat because there's nothing more that they can do right now, so Will wants to be closer to our boys just in case anything happens to him. I really have been upset about it, but trying to hide it and just try to be cheerful for him and Cheyenne. I love all of you here at RS and you all have been so kind and caring to us that we consider you part of our family too. Hugs, Rebekka

Here's the email I sent out:

UPDATE ON WILL AND ALL OF US~*~þ

Hi Everyone,
Hope this finds all of you well. Will went to his oncologist on Monday. We don't have insurance but they said they could bill us. We are still trying to get state medical insurance (like medi-cal) but don't know why it's taking so long for them to send out more paper work, they said we have to wait for paper work to be sent out but nothing yet and that was almost 3 weeks ago :( They were gonna do a blood draw on Will (that way they can read his numbers and see what's up with the cancer) but they needed that payment right there for it and we couldn't afford almost $400 for it, so it has to wait. They did flush is port, so that is good, cause it's suppose to be flushed every 4 weeks or so. The dr. said he has talked with MD Anderson specialist and there is nothing more they can do for him right now with his cancer in the aorta etc. They said that his dr. will just have to monitor it for now and keep doing ct scans and pet scans to see if it spreads and if it does, they have to do surgery, no chemo, the slow growing teratomas don't respond to chemo, chemo won't kill them, so now we just sit and pray that the one on his aorta isn't growing, his dr. says he thinks it could be dead, but we don't want to rely on thinks, we need to know specifically, it's Will's life that is what is hanging in the balance here not the drs. Anyways wish I had more possitive news, but that's all we know right now. Oh the dr. also said he can never go back to doing his old job, he will have to find an easier job if and when he goes back to work. He did fill out the permanent handicap plate for him, so we now have a license plate and placard that is permanent for his handicap. I still need to see a hear dr. myself, plus the knee specialist, but that will have to be put on hold til something with medical insurance comes through...I also need dentures and my teeth are really bad, right now I'm battling a bad tooth and I think it's infected, it is even making my ears hurt, so I am taking antibiodics for it.
Cheyenne had a great birthday and loved all her gifts. She's been reading up a storm and already read about 10 books in October. She is an avid reader and loves to read big novels too instead of always chapter books. Right now she's reading a vintage novel 'Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm' that I got her and she loves it. It even has Shirley Temple on the cover and pics from the movie in it. Matthew was here in AZ to visit his grandpa and nana. My ex-FIL had surgery and it went pretty good, but he's still having problems, so please keep him in your thoughts. Cheyenne drew him a horse (she's getting good at drawing) and he loved it. I wished we could've seen Matthew and everyone while they were in AZ, but we couldn't afford it. Matthew's hand is healing nicely and hopefully he can play in at least one football game before the season ends. I am so proud of him, his progress report was really good, I love it that he got an A. I want him to graduate from Dinwiddie High School, it's the same one Timmy graduated from in 1998. Wow I feel old now..ROFL..Anyways just wanted to check in with all of you and let you know what is going on our way. I hope all of you are doing well. Hugs, Rebekka

Perhaps once you are back home things will be easier on all of you. Hoping your family will chip in and help out with money/ gas money etc.. for follow up checkups he will need. I know how it is to not have health insurance and waiting for the help to kick in, I am still waiting on my sons as it is pending. Since you are going to a place that you know, wondering if they have hospitals that offer classes, for instance my sons hospital offers health & wellness classes, such things as cooking classes using veggies that are cancer fighters/cancer prevention, and aromotherpy, and massage. I don't know if you've done these already, but think they would be great to keep his spirits high, as well as give him something positive to do towards healing.I have been thinking about taking these classes also, as I think they are good classes for anyone to take, they are low cost or free.

Maybe once you get back home you can find a clinic in your area that works on a sliding scale to get your teeth fixed.

Also check out local organizations and see what kind of help they are for your hubby Will, or for yourself or your family as a whole. Maybe you can get a group to do a fundraiser to help you guys out with getting his follow up blood test done that is expensive, as he really does need that test done and hope you guys can do that soon so you know where you stand. Also have you checked out cancer treatment center for america? There is one facility here, and just 2 other states, but their goal in getting people healthy again is wonderful, they treat the whole body..

Thankfully I have been doing tons of refunding since mid september and getting the checks back slowly. I had just enough in checks to pay my sons cardiologist visit this past thursday, so one less bill knocked off the list.

.....as soon as you are able. I'm working on another big coupon envie for you. Please know I will keep you and Will and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I am sooo very sorry to hear that there is nothing more they can do for Will as I'm sure just waiting and wondering is very hard on all of you!!!

I'm praying that his cancer does not spread.....I hope that being closer to your family will ease some of the burden you've been feeling for many months now. You need some help, gf, and I hope your family pitches in however they can. You all have my love,

Shelly
