Hi folks,

Has anyone here ever dealt with a time share? I have a friend who direly needs to sell a time share... anyone have any idea what she needs to do? She would like to list it on ebay but is not sure how to then "sell" the time share; transfer it; etc. Does a notary do this in the buyer's location?

You all are so knowledgeable I am hoping someone can help her out :)

TIA
Shel

I know when my nephews girlfriend bought a timeshare on a condo, the other "owners" told her to let them know if she ever wanted to sell her share as they would buy it rather than have a stranger buy it. Whoever she bought the time share from should be willing to give her some tips and info on selling hers, maybe she could call them and ask.

3|1|I think these things are deeded out, kind of like land (but maybe not recorded). My advice: Contact the company that manages it or the association that manages all those fees they pay. They will likely know how to go about selling it which she would want to know. Also, I see timeshares advertised in various papers. I am pretty sure there are companies that specialize in buying/selling time shares (I've seen adverts on tv for this very thing). Sorry, no real advice, but she should contact the company so she'd have an idea of what the going rate is anyway. They likely register owners (for fee paying purposes!) so they may know about what the going rate is. Good luck :)|Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|19:10:21|10/10/2008|

It is a time share at a resort in Orlando FL, so it is not just like one unit/condo somewhere ... it is not even a set week of the year like the ones we found on our local Craigslist.

When she called the management company, all they told her was they do not deal with re-selling and did not offer her any advice. Earlier this year she listed it through a re-sale service and paid $400.00 but it did not sell in the 90 days so she lost that money.

I feel for her and don't know anything about the process, we looked on ebay and they seem to be listed with "closing fees" disclosed up front so we assume there are settlement companies or notaries involved somehow. She is hoping to learn about all of this before she lists with ebay so she does not end up losing more money.

The poor dear, she is paying $150.00 per month and there are so many hidden fees, she has not even been able to afford to use her timeshare yet after two years; they did a great job of selling to her as she did not ask many questions at the time of purchase while vacationing in Orlando.

THANKS to all,
Shel 6|3|Shel: they do this all the time. It's sooo sad.. (((inside)))|CJDJ112366|Lintaos@optonline.net|12:50:25|10/12/2008|

instead of paying all those fees, just so she knows, once she sells. She could still go to Orlando w/her family and stay in a beautiful condo/timeshare resort for $600 a week. We were able to go to Orlando for 14 days for 1,200 3 bedroom/kitchen indoor pool, washer, dryer the works, w/pool heat and taxes. I'm not rubbing it in. I just want her to know once this is all over.... She will be able to enjoy those same benefits but sooo much cheaper. We use our income tax rebate to cover this and we stay on the resorts w/activities for the kids incl. I hope she gets someone from tug to help her. They are all pretty friendly there. I'm sure others are going through the same exact thing. I'm hoping someone could walk her through.... If you'd like.. I can check my e:mail to see if I could get in touch w/an owner for you. The last person I rented from was a cop ((real sweet guy)) I know this is pushing it but do you want me to ask if he would e:mail or call her... Maybe he could help...

Hugs,

me

That would be ideal for her, we know the market for resale is not good right now but your idea would be the perfect solution for her!!! Thanks for the idea and I will be sure to tell her "remind" her to email you!
