what about the McCain-Palin ticket is NEW? Can't they see we can see thru them or are we supposed to be so stupid and racist that we will vote for them and against obama while they lie in our faces about having new and different ideas while they differ from Bush in NO way???

And why would I vote for Sarah Palin just because she is a woman when she is so obviously unworthy of the job?

She picks on people that disagree with her, uses her government to hire her friends and cronies (just like Bush) and has no relevant exprerience except that Alaska is close to Russia???? OMG how stupid are we supposed to be? Her home life is a wreck, her daughter does not live by her own parents values and she spesnds no time at home with her special needs kid. I only wish I had the kind of help she has so that she can do all these public appearances while touting herself as a great mother. I for one am neither stupid nor am I blind.

I may not vote for obama but I definitely will not vote for mccain/palin. The republicans lie so bald-facedly that it offends me. 1|1|I could not disagree with you more....|KellyJef|burke3536@yahoo.com|07:56:40|10/03/2008|

I admire her. So many people have pushed for women's rights and even wanted to vote for a woman for president. I don't understand why she bothers them so much. I believe she is a perfect example of a woman that can and has done it all. Some things she also brings to the table: examples of issues we all have in our life:

She is a woman balancing a career and a family
Having a child with special needs, where some may have aborted the child
Having a teenager become pregnant and choosing to not abort the child
Having a child serving in Iraq

I am sure ther are other things also.....

I think she shows that she and her family are REAL and I respect her positions on all the above. I believe Sarah did an awesome job at the debate. I think the D's wanted her to mess up so bad and she didn't. A good question would be, if she was on the other side wouldn't they just LOVE her? She, in my opinion has it ALL.

I had to respond to this post, because I believe it was so strong and one sided and I did not agree with any of it....

Please, no bashing, I rarely take such a big stand on some of the issues raised on here, but this one needed to be addressed....JMHO...:)

my husband, and another coworker are (or were) of the mindset that thier votes didn't count because one party can not win by one or two personal votes alone. i told them this and now i'm telling it to you............. PLEASE remember, it's not the ONE vote not submitted that will sway an election it is the COLABERATION of all of the ONE VOTES that can.

if we have 1 million people that don't vote at all but WOULD have voted for this party or that party it could have meant the difference between this party winning and that party losing.

feel as you may about the republicans or the democrats but please DON'T LET YOUR VOTE GO TO WASTE.

the way i see it is: IF YOU DON'T VOTE THEN YOU DON'T HAVE A RIGHT TO COMPLAIN ABOUT WHO WINS. kwim?

confirmed that even more. If Obama wins, no place in this world will be safe. Not to mention the fact that he does not support our troops and will not even salute our flag or pledge allegiance to this country. If he wins, it will be a very scary 4 years here in America.

I like to look at records, ideas, things they supported, and I know John McCain has supported a lot for the troops, but so has Obama. I believe he supports our troops but does not support the current war, it is two totally different things, he has goals in place to provide better healthcare and better education benefits to returning soldiers, that does not show me lack of support of the troops. Here is a webiste http://vetsforobama.org/, which obviously is pro-Obama, so yes they may not include all the things he voted against for the troops, but they include enough things he did vote for or try to bring about to make me believe he fully supports our troops. As far as emails saying he does not support them and he is muslim and what not, we need to research it first, I get emails saaying big foot was at Disney, it does not mean it is true.

As far as the flag is concerned here is something from snopes.com, not the best website but it does say that the pic that got this started is true but that he has nothing against saluting the flag, how many of us do not ALWAYS salute the flag, especailly for the national anthem, but it shows screencaps of him reciting the pledge in the senate on dates before this incident happened, so it is not like he got caught when that happened (Sept 2007) and since then has been saluting the flag to save face. And honestly, how many politicians really salute the flag or put their hand over their heart because it is the RIGHT thing to do and not because it is the politically correct thing to do.

when asked what is the new Bush foreign policy and she had no idea, she seems not to answer the questions at all when asked, she does seem to like to go around the questions a lot, also the remark of going to war with Iran, Pakistain and Sryria, do we really need another war right now when we are in debt to Europe? and they keep bailing us out of so much money spent on the wars we are in now. Funny how all they talk about is terrorism, well I see it like this, USA at this moment in the worlds eyes are terrorist for what we have done in those countries, put your self in their shoes, would you like to see you children raped, or killed in front of you? and your country blown apart cause someone thinks they are getting rid of terrorists? Look in our own country when people are killing each other, look at our people who could benifite from all the money we spend a day on war.

Can see it now, she is sitting down with a foreign leader, and says rude remarks to them. to be in office one must learn what it means to be and play the politician, most are excited that she is a woman and blind sighted, but at what coast does voting for a woman get us into?

Funny how 2 days ago was asked what news papers and magazines does she read to get the update on news and she could not respond but went around that also, I don't want to keep hearing from her how bad the Democrates are, I want to really hear her answer a question directly for once. 12|2|I SO agree, Tina....|shelly|shellysue49@gmail.com|10:35:26|10/03/2008|

I like her very much and think she is a strong and intelligent woman, but I vote on issues not the person. How many moms do you know that send their children off to war, that raise special needs children, that have been soccer moms or joined the PTA, tons and tons, it does not qualify us to be vice president, she has not come out publicly and still did not last night with HER stand on many issues, if I was simply voting for who I liked best I would vote for her in a heartbeat but we need people who at least try to give us their plans, I know in the end it is just their plan and chances are it will change a million times along the way once they actually get in, but at least they have ideas and plans, she has not shown any of that in my opinion, if she comes out more on issues and they lean towards what I believe I would vote for her but I will not be blinded by the idea of having someone who SEEMS to be able to identify with me in the office on a mom level, can she identify with me as far as what I think of war, gay marriage, the economy, no she can not so why would I vote for her, those are the things that matter to our country not if she breastfed or potty trained her kid before 3, sure to us moms it matters but not on a national level, if we were voting for the head of the National Organization for Women (NOW) maybe she should win but this is the vice president of the US, one heartbeat away from running the country, our troops, the citizens not fighting for one central focused thing only (like various womens rights issues with NOW), we need someone who can fight for everything. In the end though, in my opinion they all are crooks on both sides but I guess we each vote for who we think is the lesser of 2 evils, I know if it was me that last thing I would want to do is be president right now so they all either deserve a lot of credit for taking this on or they both are just super power hungry indiduals and in the end just like every other politician.

I do believe we vote with who we can identify with, do we not? Well, I identify with them. I felt the need to address my feelings on her mothering skills because of what op posted on her daughter and whether or not she needs to stay home with her baby. You have to vote what your heart tells you to do....I have MANY reasons I support the Republican ticket...The main one is that I have a choice and chose the side I most identify with on many issues. I sent this in an email to someone earlier.

"I have voted BOTH sides in my life, but when I truly came to the Lord I stayed on the republican side. It has nothing to do with race for me. I truly believe that every American should have the same rights. I read a verse in the Bible one day about "Everyone will give an account for every ideal word they speak"....Is our vote not our voices???....That sealed it for me!!..I don't agree with the Abortion laws #1 and they do, or at least they vote more for it....I had to repent for having voted democratic because I felt somewhat at fault for the abortion laws and the lives of those babies that are now in heaven." I don't think either side will ever reverse the ruling, but we need to slow it down....This is just my feelings, not blaming any individual...We all have our on convictions that we live with....

I am sure I will get bashed for it by some of you, but, that is freedom of speech, right? I respect your opinions, but have mine too....I don't agree with everything on the "R" side, but this is the one issue that changed my heart....I mean we have laws to put people in jail for being mean to animals, I have to wear a seat belt or can receive a ticket, but, ....I have the right to take the life of a human inside of me?...I am not talking of the abortions for health or rape issues...but, just because someone decides it is not the "time" for them?....

I am also choosing to not post my opinion on O'Bama, because I choose not to offend any of you....I tell eveyone that says they are undecided...do lot's of RESEARCH and just find the one thing you can agree with, whichever side and vote with your heart....:)

We can agree to disagree on dems vs. repubs, but when it comes down to it people need to vote on issues and the things they believe in, not race or sex, that is my only concern, but you definitely have the right view as far as voting on your beliefs and that is what I wish most people would do, whether it be to look beyond race or sex, they need to look at the issues and what they believe and the candidates believe.

our country, and served 2 terms hmm but all complain about him funny on who put him in office now hates him, so now its time to change for ones who have more experiance, I hate both sides both you see are saying lies what they did and what they want to do, anyone who can bribe people or make rude remarks against other races has no buisness being a politician.
really when it comes down to it there is not one who is the best at this moment i would have loved Ralph Nador,

1. Palin mispronounced our commander in Afghanistan, Dave McKiernan's name and also claimed that he supported the idea of using the Iraq surge as a model for Afghanistan even though just yesterday he said he did not.

2. In response to a question on Iran and Pakistan Palin answered by starting to talk about Iraq. Similar to McCain's obsession on Iraq with complete neglect for all other national security priorities.

3. Palin promised that the Middle East peace process would be a top priority for a McCain administration. But McCain's own advisors last week said that it wouldn't.

4. Palin was unable to distinguish any specific difference between Bush and McCain on any foreign policy issues. Joe Biden made that point very clearly.

5. Sarah Palin seems to rely quite heavily on her notes and on a very limited set of talking points. She has been dodging questions all night long.

INTERESTING DATA ON TAXES

Proposed changes in taxes after the 2008 General election:

CAPITAL GAINS TAX

MCCAIN
0% on home sales up to $500,000 per home (couples). McCain does not propose any change in existing home sales income tax.

OBAMA
28% on profit from ALL home sales

How does this affect you? If you sell your home and make a profit, you will pay 28% of your gain on taxes. If you are heading toward retirement and would like to down-size your home or move into a retirement community, 28% of the money you make from your home will go to taxes. This proposal will adversely affect the elderly who are counting on the income from their homes as part of their retirement income.

DIVIDEND TAX

MCCAIN 15% (no change)

OBAMA 39.6%

How will this affect you? If you have any money invested in stock market, IRA, mutual funds, college funds, life insurance, retirement accounts, or anything that pays or reinvests dividends, you will now be paying nearly 40% of the money earned on taxes if Obama becomes president. The experts predict that 'Higher tax rates on dividends and capital gains would crash the stock market, yet do absolutely nothing to cut the deficit.'

INCOME TAX

MCCAIN (no changes)

Single making 30K - tax $4,500
Single making 50K - tax $12,500
Single making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 60K- tax $9,000
Married making 75K - tax $18,750
Married making 125K - tax $31,250

OBAMA (reversion to pre-Bush tax cuts)

Single making 30K - tax $8,400
Single making 50K - tax $14,000
Single making 75K - tax $23,250
Married making 60K - tax $16,800
Married making 75K - tax $21,000
Married making 125K - tax $38,750

Under Obama, your taxes could almost double!

INHERITANCE TAX

MCCAIN 0% (No change, Bush repealed this tax)

OBAMA - Restore the inheritance tax

Many families have lost businesses, farms, ranches, and homes that have been in their families for generations because they could not afford the inheritance tax. Those willing their assets to loved ones will only lose them to these taxes.

NEW TAXES PROPOSED BY OBAMA

New government taxes proposed on homes that are more than 2400 square feet.

New gasoline taxes (as if gas weren't high enough already)

New taxes on natural resources consumption (heating gas, water, electricity)

New taxes on retirement accounts, and last but not least....

New taxes to pay for socialized medicine so we can receive the same level of medical care as other third-world countries!!!

Sarah Palin saylast night, "give" you a $5000 medical insurance credit so that you can go get your OWN insurance. The average cost for insurance is $12,000 so they will give you $5000 (a check straight to the insurance company) so that you are left hanging to make up the other $7000 yourself! Now where does that $5000 come from? Must be from the government. Hmmmmmm

It does look like if you make over $250,000 a lot will go up but why should the rich get richer, I keep hearing the business owners will be affected by paying more taxes or these big companies, they will have to cut bakc employees, etc for paying these taxes, they will still have all sorts of write offs and ways to avoid taxes and ways to get around it, Obama will probably give special laws to help them, I think both sides repubs and dems will continue to grease the wheels for the rich but his plan sounds good to every day citizens like you and I who feel the rich just get richer so they say what will get them elected (like with this bill, they want to keep jobs in America but yet they give breaks to these companies in Samoa??).

Democrat leadership.

Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961
Buffalo, NY (2nd) hasn't elected one since 1954
Cincinnati, OH (3rd)... since 1984
Cleveland, OH (4th)... since 1989
Miami, FL (5th) has never had a Republican Mayor
St. Louis, MO (6th).... since 1949
El Paso, TX (7th) has never had a Republican Mayor
Milwaukee, WI (8th)... since 1908
Philadelphia, PA (9th)... since 1952
Newark, NJ (10th)... since 1907

It is the disadvantaged who habitually elect Democrats - yet are still disadvantaged.

Apart from all the party politics etc, are we REALLY ready to have Palin take over the presidency, when aging McCain suffers more serious and almost inevitable medical problems (or dies)??? THINK what the STRESS of holding the office of President is going to do to his health, at his age, and with the country and world having SO much going wrong now. 43|2|It's all matter of risk anyway isnt it....we will all be taking a risk when we vote in November...younger doesnt equal better, IMHO. I have seen many jokes about McCain's age, criticism of his health history, and allusions that he is showing signs of senility....76 in this day and age is not that old...my mother worked full time until she was 77. I am a nurse at a nursing home and have been in that field for 15 yrs..the average age of the residents I care for is 88! I have only a small handful (out of 125 residents) that are under 80 at all, and the rest are in their 80's, 90's and even 100+ yrs old. And MANY of those in their 80's and 90's are sharp as a tack...would I vote someone in at age 85? Of course not, but he has said he would only run for one term (of course, that could turn out to be a flip-flop too!).

I dont see how chosing the candidate based on age is any different than choosing one based on race...both are a form of descrimination when you get right down to it.

I guess I see his age as non-issue because I am NOT willing to settle for 4 more years of the same BS we have had for the last 8 yrs...I dont even think of his age when I consider whether I would vote for him or not...the same as I dont consider Obama's race when considering giving my vote to him. I just plain and simple dont like where either one would take us should they get in the Oval office. :(

Joy
ETA: I like Palin...she's someone I would love to have lunch with, but I dont think she's quite ready to hold such a high office in our govt....give her a few more years, let her get her feet wet more on the national level, prepare her for the position more....then she would probably have more support.

I'm not against the Muslim part at all. They are a very peaceful group of people. America was built on religious freedom. But there is something that doesn't smell right about his not wanting to tell us the basics about himself.

I don't care what he practices.. that's not the point. The point is he is way too secretive for someone seeking this office.

Personally -- I think there is something fundamental in his background that makes him INELIGIBLE to be our president and he is hiding that with all his power.

Democrats want free health care for everyone. Okay so lets say that plays out.

Free healthcare for everyone will cause these major problems.

1-- loss of jobs to all health insurance company workers - (not that I personally like paying them) but all workers from blue cross, united, oshner etc-ALL HEALTH INSURANCE COMPANYS- There will be no need for those jobs anymore ---- so there goes the unemployement rate.

2-- Doctos and nurses salarys will be capped at a certain pay (example 50,000 this is just an example)--- so these Doctors/nurses will go from high paying jobs to middle class... how will they pay there mortages, how will they pay back the money for there student loans to become Dr's or nurses --
The Dr and Nurses will not stand for this so the same thing that happen in great britian will happen here -- We will have public health care with terrible Dr's and only be able to be seen if its is life or dealth at a hosital. Then for the rich there will be cash only hospitals and Dr's.

3-- Do you really want the goverment to pick where you/ your children/ sick realtives go to the Dr. There will be no more choices you will go were they say go or you will have to go to a private hosital or Dr and pay cash. My son is high funtional autistic... this scares the crap out of me. The goverment isn't going to pay for specialist so that's going to have to be paid out of pocket.

4-- As far as Biden saying Mccain in going to tax Health care. It is already taxed -- my husband is co owner of a business. Mccain wants to give a $5000 credit to help out with healthcare cost... not to cover it completely. I personally like my Dr and want to have the choice to go to the Dr's I choose for my family.

This is serious stuff --- think about it. We have the right to choose our Doctors do we really want to give that away. Great Britian and Canada did and now they are a mess. Real sick people can't see Dr's or go to hospitals because waits are month's long.

67|5|Nationalized healthcare scares me too....as a nurse, and as an American....all of your points are very good and I dont think alot of Americans understand the 'consequences' of that plan....they think it will be free, but what they dont realize is that they will be taxed to support it. McCain's plan is at least some help with health care coverage, but I havent seen any details on that yet, that is something I need to dig more into.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:22:11|10/05/2008|

68|3|Maisa, I dont think anyone is trying to be racist or intolerant to race/religion....there is so mjuch propoganda out there from BOTH sides it is hard to sift through it all to find any grain of truth of what the candidates really stand for. I do give people credit for trying to research the candidates and make a decision on who to vote for, even if there is information out there that is either irrevalent or twisted....alot of people dont learn more about the candidates before voting. The best thing may be to just focus on their platforms (which I think both sides have some really weak planks in their platforms), and find the candidate who has the most in common with one's own views.|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:30:40|10/05/2008|

everyone is posting info they are finding on the web; ignorant in my opinion would be believing what the mainstream media is feading us and not researching ourselves to
find the real truths....I refuse to just believe everything I see on the network(biased) channels...And yes, I research both sides....but, find something you don't
like and you call it fake and attack by name calling???.....I don't think the videos were fake, because, let me say one thing...If I were to be involved in faking a video
it would not have involved my children...It is sick to use your children like that....No person in the right minds would do that, would they?

SOMETHING I FOUND INTERESTING, JUST SOMEONE'S WAY OF LOOKING AT IT:

"mike Sep 30th, 2008 at 6:01 pm
This video is twenty kinds of creepy.

Don’t forget that Hollywood’s A-List was involved in its production, starting with Jeff Zucker, CEO of NBC.

Obama is turning out to be The Big Let-Down of ’08.
Obama kept insinuating that He is The Second Coming but every time we’ve held our breaths waiting for him to change water into wine, we’ve been disappointed. Obama kept telling us to ‘tune in next week!’ and he never delivers, the miracle never comes. There is nothing there.
Obama’s has a problem with clarity. I have systematically studied both his autobiographies and I still don’t know what kind of man I’m dealing with. When he was first showcased on TV, my interest was aroused. I used to find Obama enigmatic, but now he just comes off as vacuous, empty.
Obama’s two books address the questions of “Journey of Discovery to Where?” and “Who Am I?” We can all relate to such pondering. But Obama does not give us an answer. If he has found the answer since publishing those two books two years ago then he hasn’t told us yet.
McCain has been on a longer and harder personal journey. There can be nothing more extreme than surviving daily torture for five years. Can you imagine that? To be beaten day-in and day-out, starved, your hands and legs bound by chains? McCain already knows what he can take, and humbly knows where he breaks. Every man and woman has a breaking point. It is very human. McCain already knows his, even though he held out as long as he could.
What trials or stories of human devastation has Obama endured? I can’t imagine being Black in America is an easy thing. But Obama was raised in Polynesia by white grandparents and then went on to Harvard, community service, the Senate, and now the presidency. Obama’s journey seems to have been very easy. His skin color opened all the right doors for him instead of slamming them shut. Obama didn’t march against segregation. Obama didn’t fight for affirmative action. He planted no tree. He carried no water for that tree. Obama has just come along and picked the fruits. That is easy street. This is not a great American story. This is not a triumph of will over adversity. This is a story of baby-boomer entitlement. This is the story of the yuppy next door. These stories are a dime a dozen on aisle 3 at Whole Foods.
You may agree or disagree with McCain but at least you know where he stands. He has a long track record to judge him by. McCain has a long list of hits and misses. He has made mistakes (like us all) but that is because he had been trying to do things and change things all his life. Obama markets himself as the candidate with an unblemished record, but that is only because he doesn’t have a record. We have nothing to judge Obama by. All he gives us is his word and we are supposed to put all our trust in his future promises. But these promises keep changing: Obama has produced two contradictory promises on Iraq, two contradictory promises on NAFTA, and two contradictory promises on taxes. Are we supposed to judge him by the original promise he made, or by his most recent one? The candidate who flows with the changing winds of polls is the lightweight. That much we know.
I feel very embarrassed for buying into the Obama phenomena. Maybe now that the weather is changing I see things in a new light. I feel sheepish for falling for the marketing pitch. Where do I go to get a refund?
I think that many voters like me are looking for clarity in our next president. I feel I know what kind of man McCain is, and that I can trust him. McCain gets my vote."

Many of you say Obama had nothing to do with this video. Your Wrong! The way he presents himself as some kind of masiah/god, by the stage settings he uses, and the crowd he creates, but doesn’t tell the people about the popular bands he pays to be there as well. He plays on Americans sub concious.
And worst of all, Its working!
Ask yourselves:
Why haven’t we heard anything from the remaining members of his family? All the other candidates have had family members and close friends do interviews to the media, but Obama has none! The media made an attempt durring the primaries to interview two of his closest friends from college, but they declined the interview, and said, “No comment”. Why hasn’t Obama’s grandmother, or half sister come forward and tell the world what a great guy he is? What is it they don’t want us to know?

Obama says that when he was involved with the terrorist Ayers, he was just a neighbor, and that he was on the board with him. Well that board only had 6 members, and they met regularly. When Ayers made threats on America Obama was only 7 years old. But Ayers still holds to He wishes he could have done more! That was in 2005 when he made that comment! What is Obama hiding?

Nothing in his past is clear cut. His dealings with Rezco is still open.

ACORN is running the most corrupt organization of voter fraud in history. Through a labyrinth of lies, and dark alleys, Obama is still envolved with ACORN. Ayers is a part of ACORN. Obama still has ties with the Woods Fund of Chicago which makes regular LARGE donations to ACORN.
A Large amount of money was allagated to ACORN on the first Bail Out Bill that didn’t go through.

Obama has the media in his pocket. Obama has great attorneys working on his Truth Squad. How much of his donations from Americans are being paid to the Media, and his Truth Squad?
Obama admits he will raise taxes on those making $250,000 and more, but yet, he has the Hollywood elite in his pocket as well. What has he been telling the rich of California durring those closed door fundraisers in California to make them want him for president?

Too many un-answered questions! Too many associations with the UNDERGROUD! 90% of the promises he has made durring the primaries (that got him votes), he has now flip flopped on!
What is the exact list of reasons so many Obama supporter are still supporting him? Please enlighten me! I’m tired of hearing lame reasons. If Obama supporters truly feel that Obama’s lowering taxes on the middle and lower class will help them (and now he is saying he won’t be able to do that untill the economy gets better) think again. Yes you will be paying lower taxes, but you will be loosing your jobs because most of the big corporations will be closing down and moving to Mexico or China where they don’t have to pay high taxes! Do you think those business owners are stupid?
Now that is a promise Obama can keep! If you have no job……….. You pay no taxes!
Other than the promise of paying less taxes, what other reasons do Obama suporters have to vote for Obama?
Enquiring minds would honestly like to know!

Reading it I do not think it sounds racist, I really did not see her bashing or name calling white people, yes it does make it sound like she feels she is not being treated equal because of her color but I sometimes feel I am not treated equal because I am a woman, it does not make me hate men or make me a sexist person, also she based her thesis on a survey of african american Princeton ALumni, she also includes the results in the paper, so this was not a paper on just her beliefs alone, and I also think that it is good she felt the way she did because she sees society needs to be changed and she and her husband want do that.

As far as the you tube videos, people do crazy things, dems or republicans, the video with the kids was a little bit crazy but I am pretty sure (and hope, but hey you really do never know with both sides) Obama did not put the kids and families up to the videos, so we can not blame him for these wacjy videos or dislike him because of the videos (but it seems everyone here has picked their candidate based on issues which is how it should be)

I know the infamous buck stops here at the prez's desk, but Congress makes the laws and then gives them to him to sign it. The House has more Dems than Republicans... yet the fingers point to the Prez whether he deserves them or not.

Problems surface many times years later and I believe that is what the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac crapola is all about here. The economic mess isn't any one party's sole fault here folks.

I know folks are hurting... many here on the boards are barely scraping by. I read the posts here on what we are all doing to save money... gas is sky high and energy to heat our homes is too. Honestly, either way you vote, the problem isn't going to miraculously disappear. Much like being sick, it takes time to feel better and a bit more time to be truly well.

I'm voting for McCain and I am not a racist for not wanting Obama if anyone thinks that. The VP on the ticket is kind of like a bonus... much like you'd buy a product with that extra freebie shrink wrapped to it. Sarah Palin is a governor and hasn't been one for eons of years. Biden has been in the Senate for longer than I've been alive, so yes, he has more experience. But you vote for the top of the ticket, folks.

Even Hillary did not have the audacity to run for Prez the minute she moved out of that White House. She turned up in NY and ran for a Senate seat... and has paid her dues. Barack Obama barely moved into his Senate office before he started running for president. Truth be told, while I wasn't crazy over either Obama or Clinton, I'd rather have Clinton in office than Obama.... Whitewater scandals not withstanding.

As for McCain, maybe I am a softie. There's something noble about serving your country. His POW status certainly doesn't mean he should go straight to the presidency based on just that one aspect about him, but in a time of war, I'd like a president who knows what war is, how bad it sucks and even though it sucks, will do the right thing for the troops because he's been there, done that and bought the t-shirt.

Like others have mentioned, I don't like the secrets... just show me your birth certificate already. As for McCain, just like any other army brat born overseas, he is a U.S. citizen.

I don't care about religion, I care about values. As for talk of Obama being a Muslim... that didn't really concern me. I have a few Muslim friends who are very kind, devout to their religion, and except for some differences in faith, believe in the Golden Rule, ten commandments, etc. much like the rest of us do. The media has portrayed Muslims as extremists. Think about it... the last time they mentioned a cop killer or pedophile on TV, did they say "Joe Schmoe, a Baptist from...." No, they didn't. What I do care about is values... I am a values voter here and as a Catholic, I can't force myself to pull the lever for a candidate who is not a pro-life candidate. For me, the buck stops there. If you cannot respect the life of the unborn, then how can I trust you to respect the life of others?

I urge everyone to not always listen to the media and do your own research from non-partisan sites and even then take it with a grain of salt. Vote your conscience and for me, that is the McCain ticket. (And truth be told, I was really pulling for Mitt Romney... sigh....)

Just to say though I know this video was made by a group very opposed to MCCain so they want him to look bad, but when the pastor Obama went to made his comments it was all we ever heard, this has not gotten any coverage what so ever, and here is an article where McCain denounces him, but I find it interesting that even though Obama denounced Wright people still try to associate him with the man, who is to say McCain is not still associated with this man?

I look at who can do a better job for us and right now, that is McCain. And even if he (God forbid) would not make it the 4 years, Palin would do a much better job than Biden. A president does do his/her job alone. There is a whole cabinet, advisors, and all sorts of people involved. I for one am sick of people blaming the problems of this country on the president. Most of the problems have been caused by congress and the senate. Yes, the pres has the power of the veto but most of the problems our country has right now started LONG before Bush was in office.

GOD BLESS AMERICA that we have the freedom to post our thoughts and feelings like this. I appreciate everyone's thoughts! What a great country we live in!!!!

McCain still carries the "scars" of his imprisonment to this day. Ever wonder why his wave is so low all the time? He can't lift his arms past a certain point, and has to have help because he can't tie a tie or dress himself alone. I'm sure that when he came back all beat up (mentally & physically), it didn't help to have a wife that couldn't support him and needed support herself. He may not have been able to give her what she needed because he needed help himself. I don't know, I'm just guessing. It's not like the man marriage hopped or anything--he's been married to Cindy for what? 28 years or something? I don't call that lack of commitment. He and his first wife were both victims of circumstance, and while I prefer to see people stay married and honor that commitment, I don't think divorce is wrong and I don't hold it against McCain.
Just my thoughts,

There were huge circumstances on both sides that totally changed who they were, but as far as he and his wife now being married 28 years, that is great and all but how do we really know he has been faithful? When he met her, and now to, she had money and connections and he always intended to get into politics, maybe it is true love but it also may have been a marriage of convenience, look at the Clintons, I dont believe they love each other, and he made the mistake of getting caught, but it is a marriage of conveneince for them both.

Here is a link to a newsweek article on her where she herself states they are usually apart so much with him in Washington and she in Arizona she used to tell her kids dad was deployed serving the country in Washington. Regardless of what kind of mariage they have she is a very stong and smart woman.

with all this talk about McCain's first wife's accident I was wondering about a comment Biden made during the debate with Sarah Palin. She was talking about how her and her husband had known hard times and had been without insurance, etc. And Biden mentioned something about when his wife and daughter were killed and his sons were gravely ill...he got pretty choked up about it.

I was wondering if anyone knew the circumstances about what happened

The last couple of presidents put us in the mess we are in now.... neither candidate is going to get us out of it nor be a better president... I wish there was a 3rd candidate, but there is not...

everything needs to be weighed out.... there is so much talk out there and the media just keeps digging for any garbage they can find... I wish they would try to do something beneficial instead...

Our troops will be coming home one day, to what... no jobs, maybe a house, medical??? that's questionable.... which nominee is going to take care of them?

I was not going to vote, but McCain seems to be the lesser of the 2 evils..... I cannot even say the other's name, it makes me sick..... If he does make it into the White House.... can you say Kennedy all over....(read between the lines).

I will be voting for MCCain and Pallin for many reasons however the reasons I'm not voting for Obama are not due to racism. I just KNOW people are lurking in the corners to pull that out. I seriously feel the # of voters not voting for Obama due to race is very slim. I do feel the # of people not voting for MCCain due to age discrimination is high.

I seriously think neither candidate is a moron, evil, or other mean things I've heard. I don't like Obama due to his stance on the military and the fact that we could easily become terrorized again. I also don't like his foreign policy views. There is a lot to foreign policy that can quickly be learned and negotiated but negotiating with terrorists is not somethng I approve of.

McCain straddles the rep/dem line and I like the fact he isn't afraid to pick the person he sees best for a position and disregard their party affiliation. I am not voting for a vip.

Leaders of the USA have power but not as much as you may think. The people who most need reigned in at this point are the House and Senate. These are the people refraining from vote (HELLLO we are paying them to vote) These are the people playing party hockey to sudden death. They attach so much crap to every single proposal that they are no longer voting on the item at hand.

I'm so sick of Nancy Pelosi its not funny. She's such a big mouth snot. I'm not saying she needs to kiss butt I'm saying she needs to grow the hell up and work together to achieve a common goal even if they all do not agree 100% on everything. This is about negotiations.

I'm seriously just sick and tired of this and sick of the people we hired to do a job to sit in the sidelines and watching our economy go in the toilet.

Just because McCain was a pow doesnt make what he did to his wife ok. As a military wife and one who knows MANY military wives, I could not imagine this happening. I am taking care of his kids and his home and he comes back and leaves me...I dont think so(atleast they were married for 10 years because the first wife automatically gets half of his retirement no matter how many times he gets married)...and any excuse for him leaving her is oscar mayer. Has anyone ever been to a military retirement cerimony? The wife is thanked in such a wonderful way. The gratitude from the command is clear and present. His wife needed him and what he did was selfish and unfair....If it were me, my daughters, my mother, or my friend it would not be acceptable for their husband to do this to them, so in my book I will make no excuse for it to be done to ANY woman.... 100|2|I agree completely, if he was a democrat everyone would be up in arms|glennie58|glenn_scott@alumni.ksg.harvard.edu|19:02:05|10/06/2008|

The services that are offered to veterans are not enough and we can do more to ensure that soldiers are able to reinvent themselves after returning home.

I think it is interesting that nobody seems to talk about McCain's mental health. It is understandable that a POW would have issues and I wonder how extensively he has dealt with what happened to him. I'm sure that he was forever changed by what happened to him.

I don't have any statistical info, but I believe the percentage of military families who deal with things like domestic violence (especially in war) is higher than other groups of people. That makes sense, but it seems senseless. If our nation would insist on solid care for veterans we would all be a lot prouder. 106|1|Okay had to respond I'm voting for McCain because he is the candidate that best represents me|mmj2236|sasha@mccarvill.mv.com|13:00:50|10/07/2008|

and my beliefs. I'm sorry but a man who has no political experience and who associates himself with some pretty bad people including a racist minister and a racist home grown terrorist has very little in common with me and is not going to be looking out for my needs. He is going to increase taxes for everyone except the lowest of imcome people who he will give and give and give to (I'm a teach a man to fish person). Not to mention that he has worked to get money for Acorn, a group which provided home loans to people who could not get loans because of bad credit and low income (does any of this sound familiar from the last few weeks). And have you heard of this on the news...hum I wonder why not. I am not a huge fan of John McCain. He just doesn't inspire me. But he has experience and he is a known entity and basically an honest guy. I'll take that over Obama who is very charismatic but lacks substance and moral conviction ( I say lacks moral conviction because as soon as someone or something he has been involved with is determined to be bad for his campaign he drops them or it like a hot potato...case in point immediate unconditonal withdrawal of our troops and Rev Wright).

I also have to say when some are being accused of being racist that it all seems very one sided. When you mention the many bad things Obama has been involved in including attending a church run by Rev. Wright, who no matter how you slice it is pretty anti white, or having a muslim dad, you are called a racist. I'm not a racist but these things sure concern me when I'm voting for a president. And the attending a racist church certainly implies that Mr. Obama might just be a little racist himself. But of course no one can say anything like that because they will be labeled a racist themselves. What a double standard. Imagine if you will how quickly John McCain would have been shunned by his party and the world had he ever attended a church with a minister that preached anti black sentiment or was associated with the klan. Or imagine McCain's wife making racial statements in her past. The press would have had a field day and their careers would be ruined. It makes me really mad because clearly we don't all have equal rights or at least you don't when you're running for public office. The media and press are giving one candidate a pass because of his color and the other they are just hanging out to dry.

Don't bother to email me and call me racist for what I have said. We all know what I have stated above is not racist...its just pointing out the truth of the situation.

But it's John McCain who has opposed any and all tax increases, sort of--as I reported yesterday, McCain would tax employer-provided health care benefits. (He would also raise energy costs significantly with his cap-and-trade carbon emissions reduction program.)

he will not raise taxes for the rich, he will cut some taxes and you loose your medicare for the elderly read the whole facts, your health break u think you are getting, will not reach ur pockets or the docs pockets will go straight to the insurance companies to give them breaks not really you, neither side has good health care views, they are both trying to cover up the ugly reality of theirs is really the best way,

As I said before, I'm not a big McCain supporter but he is who I'll be voting for as I see him as the lesser of two evils.

I haven't heard the stories about the McCains not paying property taxes on home but it doesn't shock me...its kind of like having a developer help you buy your home with money that he swindled.... oh thats right the Obamas did that. Like I said I am picking the lesser of the two evils.

My perfect candidate would be the candidate of personal responsibility. He or she would demand that people in this country learn to deal with their mistakes themslves instead of demanding the government save them. He or she would abolish government funded health care and entitlements. People would be asked to carry their own weight and they would have to live with their decisions, good or bad. That includes the rich and the poor. I don't believe in letting people who actually are really in need starve or be homeless but I don't believe in giving money to people who have cell phones and Ipods and every other electronic gadget and $100 tennis shoes and then cry poverty. Let them know what real poverty feels like for a little while. We are a country of whinning crying spoiled brats who have been coddled by our government for too long. I only wish that we had a candidate that was willing to do what really needs to be done to make this country great again. But that is a pipe dream.

Sometimes it is actually cheaper for a low income person to have a cell phone than it is to have a land line.

The IPOD their child has may have been a gift from a relative or something.

There is something wrong with that picture to me.

Democrat leadership.

Detroit, MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn't elected a Republican mayor since 1961
Buffalo, NY (2nd) hasn't elected one since 1954
Cincinnati, OH (3rd)... since 1984
Cleveland, OH (4th)... since 1989
Miami, FL (5th) has never had a Republican Mayor
St. Louis, MO (6th).... since 1949
El Paso, TX (7th) has never had a Republican Mayor
Milwaukee, WI (8th)... since 1908
Philadelphia, PA (9th)... since 1952
Newark, NJ (10th)... since 1907

It is the disadvantaged who habitually elect Democrats - yet are still disadvantaged.

Mother of All Mistakes

It matters not if you lean to the left or to the right, the following is worth a read, at the very least it should receive some thought before we set the U.S. on a course that will be impossible to change.

This is an email from BGEN James Cash, USAF (Ret), who has written some very good articles on the subject. Here he recommends someone else's email that impressed him, and scared him.

General Cash Wrote:

Occasionally, I receive an email that I agree with so totally I want to pass to everyone on my list. This is one of those emails. I have approval from the writer to forward the attached, and feel free to post it on your websites, or forward to friends. The election of Obama as President of the United States will mark the apex, and beginning downslide of this Republic. The only question is the rate at which the downfall will occur. The writer of this essay is Jerry Molen. Jerry is a great friend and an Academy Award winning Hollywood Producer. He did Jurassic Park , Hook, Rainman, and many more class movies. He won the Academy Award for Schindler's List. Jerry is one of the very few clear thinking conservatives that I know from Hollywood . We need to get this out to as many as possible to include liberal Democrats.. We are about to make the Mother-of-All-Mistakes, because the Republican Party gave us no reliable alternative. In my opinion, if the conservative movement does not rally behind the only alternative left to us, this country will become a true Socialist State within the next two Presidential terms. Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the most grave situation this nation has faced in my lifetime.

Jim Cash B/G, USAF, Ret.

Jerry Molen writes:

'Election woes defined by prose.....'

We just experienced an overhyped, positively outrageous primary election season that has left me cold and wondering where the heads of our citizens are hiding out. Must be someplace where the sun doesn't get to very often.

At one time in my life I was a determined, dedicated and ever loyal registered Democrat. Then something happened (Lyndon Baines Johnson) that turned my life around and gave me much pause as to the veracity of a party that dwelt on and fed off of the most unfortunate among us. Some of those unfortunates were in their positions in life by way of their own choosing and others were there by circumstance. But always, always with a door open to them to reach for new heights, achieve new goals, change their lives for the better. And also, always ever present were the bottom feeders doing everything they could to take advantage of those who had not or have not seen the light of better days and times, nor realizing they were in fact the masters of their own destiny. They had come to believe that they were dependent on those in power in Washington and that they would look out for them and take care of their every need. They are still waiting and expecting all those promised freebies.

Most people aren't even aware that the Democrats ruled Washington for over 40 years. It wasn't until 1994 when the so called Gingrich Revolution changed that for a short period of time. Nor do people realize that it was the Dem's that created the failed policies of the many entitlement programs that are falling apart right before our eyes. Please do not think I find the Republicans blameless in all this. They too, suffer from ego inflation and greed motivators built into the system. It's just that the past few months I've listened to the rantings and railings of the left in America calling for more giveaways and better ways to obtain the proverbial 'free lunch'.

I think that to sum up my feelings and why I am so set apart from those within the circles of political power and influence can be illustrated best by a quote by noted basketball legend and talk show co-host Charles Barkley:

'Poor people have been voting for Democrats for the last fifty years....and they are still poor'.

And now with the election results comes the promises of 'change'. 'Change we can believe in.' 'Change for the future'. When in fact if you really, I mean REALLY listen to what the new messiah is asking for, is not 'change of policy' or 'change for the better'. He is warning all of us that he wants our change all right, 'loose change', pocket change', social change and political change......So people wake up. For if you don't, the change you get may not be the change you were expecting or the change you wanted.

To close my screed, I want to leave you with some JM predictions in the event the junior Senator from Illinois becomes President and especially if the House and Senate are veto proof.

1). Strict new gun laws will be enacted even though he promised he would not.

2). The phrase 'In God We Trust' will be removed from all currency.

3). He will back away from his pledge to Israel and leave them to the wolves of Islam.

4). Hillary Clinton will be named to the Supreme Court.

5). Tax rates will return to their highest levels in 30 years.

6). The capital gains tax will be at least double current levels.

7). Retired Army General Wesley Clark will be named Secretary of Defense.

8). The borders will be 'basically open' to all comers. Especially those from the Middle East and South America ..

9). Amnesty will be granted to all illegalʼs now in the U.S regardless of status or even gang members (MS-13).

10). The war in Iraq will be brought to an abrupt end and the results will be tragic and the consequences to our military will be devastating.
