Im trying to use the stuff out of my freezer before i buy any more and i have a ton of hotdogs and a person can only eat so many hotdogs, LOL

The pigs in a blanket did not go over well i thought for sure it would be a hit with the kids but nope, LOL. We do mac and cheese with hotdogs, and of course hotdogs on the grill. But i really need some ideas to get my kids to eat these, LOL

....I realized I have 2/3 of a pkg. of hotdogs in the fridge, leftover from the other night when we made them for just the kids.

I was getting ready to head to Kroger's and thought about those chili dogs...yumm-o! I added a can of chili beans to my list and I have dinner for tomorrow night planned! LOL! We're trying to not waste as much food, as I said in another post yesterday.

Thanks for helping me *remember* how I can use these up and not end up tossing them in a wk. or so!

Shelly 7|1|jennifer, can you afford to just have hotdogs once a week until they are gone?|pussecat|pu55ecat@aol.com|12:09:31|10/02/2008|

if you can then i'd definately do that. hotdogs are good but every other day or so, eeeeeeewwwwwwwwwww. plus they aren't all that healthy. kwim?

did you get them for free? if so, do you have pets? how about on hot dog night give your pets one of the packages too and save that .50 cents from giving them pet food and use it towards your family's food. just a thought. :)

hugs!

borrowed from a cooking board:

Hotdog bakebean casserole
Sep 28 '00

This is a recipe that I have been eating since I was a little girl. And my kids love to have it. They like to be able to help make it too. it is very simple and fairly quick to make.

1 package of hot dogs
2-3 cans of baked beans (I use Campbell's)
1 package of shredded mild cheddar cheese.

Preheat of to 350 degrees. Pour baked beans into a casserole dish, make sure the dish is big enough for the stuff to be mixed together in). Cut the hot dogs into slices and mix into baked beans. Take half of the cheese and put it in the dish. Mix all ingredients together. Take remaining cheese and sprinkle over the top of the mixture. Bake in the oven, 30-40 minutes or until the top layer of cheese is melted and golden.

so if you have any of the free or nearly free bush's beans left this one might be a good choice :)

We like chili dogs occasionally too. Two of our girls won't eat them, but everyone else will. The tow that won't eat them usually just eat a bun with chili on it.

I have, on occasion, cut the weiners up in bite sized peices, then put them in either a skillet or sauce pan to brown and then add some BBQ sauce and serve over a bun or on bread.

Another recipe I do sometime is an appitizer. Cut the weiners in bite sized peices, wrap each piece in bacon and place on a cookie sheet. Sprinkle liberally with brown sugar and baked a 300 deg until the bacon is browned. These are delicious. 13|2|sour kraut and weenies.......|couponsnsamples|couponsnsamples@hotmail.com|15:01:39|10/02/2008|

pack of hot dogs
2 TB flour
pack of hot dog buns
1/2 C water
1/2 C catsup
onion is so desired, add to your taste
1/2 C or more if desired of shredded colby or other cheese
foil wrap

Preheat oven to 350
pack of hot dogs, cut into small slices, browned in 2 TB oil. Add 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup catsup & 2 TB of flour in a cup & stir until mixed, then add to mixture, stir until mixed well, cook for about 5 minutes or until thick, stir constantly. Fill hotdog bun with mixture & add shredded colby cheese on top. Wrap in foil, put on cookie sheet & bake at 350 for about 10 minutes. Fast & most kids love them. You can use other cheeses or add onions to the mixture if so desired. for a fast & easy meal, add cottage cheese, baked beans, cole slaw, chips or whatever & you have a meal. I always have to fix more than 1 pack as they just don't last.

http://www.freewebs.com/mo6g02/ 17|1|I think you could make Ham salad out of them (like you would make with bologna)...go ahead and cook them (nuke them, boil them, whatever), let them cool in the fridge....grind them up in the blender...add mayo or Miracle whip, sweet relish, minced onion, and some garlic powder. Use to make sandwiches or as a cracker spread (you could serve with some soup as a meal) :)|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|20:23:54|10/02/2008|

Just dice the wieners & you'll likely be the only person who'll know it's not ham. ;) They're much cheaper than ham & it's easy to make besides being filly w/the potatoes. And I LOVE leftovers of stuff like that, which can be frozen & reheated another time. ;) I always use cream of chicken tho instead of cream of mushroom cuz I think it gives those kinds of casseroles/hotdishes more flavor.

I went to an Amish Farmers Market a few weeks ago and they had hot dogs that were sliced in half but not cut all of the way through. Then they had mashed potatoes on the top of the hotdogs with shredded cheddar cheese on top of the potatoes. This was all baked in an oven and the cheese was melted on top.I didn't try 1 but it looked like another idea to use up hot dogs.
