Hi, I hope this isn't stupid but I'm worried about these episodes i've been having the past few years. I've taken at least 2 ambulance rides and have gone to the ER for tests and they never really find any cause. My husband thinks it may be a severe form of heartburn since it usually happens within an hour of eatting. Anyway, I haven't had any episodes in months and then last night we went out for tacos. I had 2 chicken tacos, not greezy or spicy, and a cup of beans and gracamole. On the way home I started feeling pains in my shoulder and chest, a pressure in my stomach. By the time we got home the pain was almost unbearable. I couldn't even get to the house so I just layed down right there in the yard or I thought I was going to pass out. I got real sweaty and clammy all over and then I got really nauseated. Sitting felt better so I crawled over to my front steps and then I lost my chicken tacos. The pain in my chest lasted about a 1/2 hour. Does this sound like heartburn to you or gallbladder attack?

I've been experiencing much the same problems as you describe, for about 2 wks. now. I have even wondered if this was some kind of heart attack, or even pre-heart attack symptoms?!

If anyone posts with any info., I'd be much appreciative too!

a heart attack. The last time I went to the ER in an ambulance for this was last spring I think and they found my blood pressure was real high and my white blood count was elevated but after tests, they said this didn't seem to be heart related. I hear sometimes it's hard to tell. they gave me Nitro on the way to the hospital. ALSO, did you feel really really drained after the pains subsided? I feel really drained.

My boss said maybe they are anxiety attacks but I don't think so.. Seems to be food related maybe.

..what TYPE of food I eat, whether it be spicy or not~which I find odd. I could understand heartburn or indigestion after eating something rich or spicy, or perhaps even eating *too much* at one sitting...not the case with me.

I'm not sure I felt "drained" or anything after the episodes, but I can tell you: my "heartburn" or whatever the heck it is, will last ALL NIGHT, I mean for hrs., and hrs., which again, I find strange?! I will be fine when I wake, then the minute I put anything in my stomach, I start having the same symptoms again. I've lost about 12-13 lbs. in the past month or so, mostly because I've lost my appetite. It feels like I don't have an appetite, but perhaps it's all in my mind because I associate eating with feeling sick immediately afterwards?!

I also was having major pains (like a huge kink) in my upper back, same time as these heartburn episodes, but the shoulder/neck pain has subsided, thank heavens.

I don't begin to know what to think.

That being said, If I am gonna toss my cookies for whatever reason, I generally feel kind of faint first and get clammy. There's a Walmart in Palmyra PA I don't think I will be able to show my face in again... too much sun at Hershey Park + medication = throwing up. I did make it to a trash can, but I really felt faint and clammy first... then better afterward til I started feeling ill again. I need to be extra careful with cheese too... too much cheese in food (regardless of taking my dairy enzyme) turns my stomach and makes me throw up. Maybe the food just didn't sit right?

I would mention this to your doctor and be wary of new symptoms in the meantime. 4|2|They tested me for heart attack|destiny|destinyroger@yahoo.com|10:33:58|10/01/2008|

the last time I came in but no signs of one. I hear sometimes it's hard to detect and may be a warning sign of impending heart attacks. I have to say, that I am 52 and much overweight so I am a time bomb, i'm sure. I am working on losing weight cuz I'm worried I won't be here next year if I don't.
I had loads of cheese on the tacos. They were more like enchaladas.. they called them SOFT tacos. I DID have an empty stomach before I ate and I ate till I was rather full...

I'm glad I wasn't anywhere but home when I threw up cuz I wet my pants. THATS SO SO EMBARRESSING!

..so sorry to hear about your embarrassing episode. Here's hoping you get some answers as to what is going on with you.

As for me, I am only about 20 lbs. overweight, and I don't ever eat too much in one sitting, so I'm not thinking it's a matter of eating the wrong foods/or overeating, KWIM?

Can you guys go see my blog entry for today? It pertains to this what we're talking about. it's at my freewebs below. thanks.

Shelly, could it be your gallbladder? I typed in the symptoms and came up with a gallbladder attack.. The pain in the back and shoulders can radiate from the gallbladder. I've been on pain meds for my back, upper right shoulder blade for months too...

My episodes last between 20 to 30 minutes, not all night. how about an ULCER?

and it was very similar to what you were describing. I thought I was having a heart attack at the time. Went to the ER where I was diagnosed with gall bladder problems. I had it removed 2 weeks later. Good Luck, Cindy 10|2|I get heartburn from cornbread - and when I was pregnant.. it just runs from stomach to up back of throat... In the the last 2 months, I took my dh to the ER with what he described as chest pains, clammy etc. They admitted him and did all the tests and even a heart catherization and all was clean. His blood pressure was high. They changed his blood pressure medicine.

He has had 2 more episodes since that time. The last time I took him to the ER they again admitted him, they did a chest x-ray, blood, ct scan and more. No problem with his heart. They put him on 40mg of Nexium and again changed his blood pressure medicine. He has been symptom free since that time. He says he feels great now.

Doc said you could also use over the counter Prilosec. See if that helps. 13|2|I just researched Gallbladder attack....|shelly|shellysue49@gmail.com|14:58:53|10/01/2008|

..and apparently the more symptoms you have from the list they provide, the more indicative it can be that the gallbladder is involved.

I have 9 of the 15 symptoms! The article says that people can go for YEARS with digestive symptoms and never realize they may be related to a gallbladder problem?! Makes me wonder.....next time I see my Dr., I'm definitely mentioning my issues.

My husband and my mil both have this very very badly and when they eat something or are stressed there reflux flairs up very badly and it has heart attack symptons my mil was actually admitted to the hospital once with a reflux attack because they thought it was a heart attack and after many many tests it was just reflux and my husband has thrown up after he eats if his reflux is real bad that day. My husband takes prescription meds for his and my mil take prilosec for hers.

Just a little info that might be helpful

First of all, THANK YOU sooo much for all your imput, advice and opinions. I really appreciate it and hopefully, all this info will not only help ME out, but anyone else here who are having similar problems.

Ok... here's something. back in 1997, I went to the er for the first time with all these symptoms we're talking about. They did a scan and found a bunch of gallstones. That was back in 1997. I've had a few small episodes from then till about 2 years ago, maybe just a few. The more severe episodes just started this year. My blood pressure was thru the roof the last time I went to the ER because of one of these episodes. I'm talking over 200. I'm very fortunate I didn't have a stroke or something. Anyway, i'm now on medication and losing weight and my bp is back to normal.

After our posts yesterday, I was beginning to think that food was the root problem, but I had a veggie sandwich at 11:30 am and yesterday it was about 4 pm when I started having chest pains again so I don't think this was caused by food. OK... i'm thinking it's those gallstones now. If it is, i'm afraid cuz my stomach is so darned herniated from Colon cancer surgery and I have NO idea how they're gonna find my gallbladder if I have to have it taken out! I'm afraid if they open me up, my innerds are going to POP out at them like those fake can of worms, you know what I mean?

My husband mentioned Prilsec yesterday. That's a thought.. Thing is, this comes on so sudden without warning. I guess i'll have to make a dr appt and have him check the gallbladder thing.
