12 0|0|Anyone ever take Cephalexin (antibiotic)??|maraj|maraj64@hotmail.com|09:19:06|09/28/2008|

Is it slow to work? I got 500mg. capsules to take twice a day. Got these on Fri. evening for a major infection in the on the left side of my right thumbnail. The red line that had extended from that area to just a little past my wrist is gone but it doesn't seem like there's much change in my thumb otherwise, & it appears there's pus in there. It's hard to type cuz it hurts. LOL
Thanks! :)
Tami

take it religiously as prescribed by the Dr. if you have a tendency to get nauseated when taking an antibotic take it with a few crackers and or some milk.....

Since I'm to take 1 capsule twice a day, I'm taking them exactly 12 hrs. apart. No nausea or anything so am grateful for that. LOL

2|1|Make sure to eat yougart at least daily while taking this....it is known to throw off the good bacteria in the bowel tract and cause c-difficile as a side effect....|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|17:50:44|09/28/2008|

Except for some tiredness. The c-stuff can't be any worse tho than the last time I had to take Zithromax - w/in a half hour of taking it, I'd be cramping & beating a path to the bathroom. LOL I'd be fine again tho in no time. :)
The only thing I've been really concerned about is that I'm allergic to Penicillin & this Cephalexin is evidently a distant relative of Penicillin? So far, so good tho so no rash, hives, or anything. :) Keeping my fingers (involves no thumb. LOL) crossed.... :)

7|5|Don't worry too much.... I am allergic to PCN and this is distantly related, but pharmacist told me that there's a 10% chance of cross-reaction. It was what I was always given as a kid since I kept getting allergic to things whenever I'd have my tonsils flare (long gone now) but when I need antibiotics, I ask if this is ok since I know it works and I can take it.|Sara_s_Mom|IClipCoupons@gmail.com|20:34:18|09/28/2008|

But yes, it can mess up your good bacteria in your GI tract and it can take months to show up, long after you took it. Try to eat some yogurt and if you can't, you could try some acidophilus pills, a doc recommended that to my hubby, a yogurt hater.

I just polished off a Yoplait Whips Key Lime Pie. Yum!
Sure wish they'd have warned me about the stupid bowel thing & what to do to avoid it. But of course, then they wouldn't make more money if I didn't have to go back to get that taken care of. :-p LOL
Thanks to both of you for the yogurt tip! :)

Yoplait makes some really delicious ones - Chocolate Mousse, Key Lime Pie, Lemon Meringue, Strawberry/Banana & especially the Whips. Am polishing off another one now, for good measure since I just found out about it & started the antibiotic Fri. night - Rich Creamy Caramel. No guilt at all either. Oooo la la. LOL
