Seriously.....today the formal email went out throughout my office announcing the hire for my position....well....there were three other people who applied for my position...and they were soooooooooo unbelievably rude to me it's not even funny....Seriously....My boss told me they need to just put their big girl panties on and get over it!
Ugh....there have been PLENTY of jobs I've wanted and applied for that I didn't get...but I took it gracefully and congratulated the other person....
It's just disappointing to see grown adults act that way...they didn't have to congratulate me...but geesh they didn't have to be rude to me either (particularly since these people and I have always gotten along) 1|1|Dont' let them get you down!! I'm happy for you!! 2|1|Kelly, you were chosen for the job by your boss....you must have some skills that others dont have, and it may have to do with your interpersonal skills (which it sounds like those others need to work on theirs). The best you can do is try to maintain a professional respect for your co-workers, and hope they can in return show you the same respect....give it time, but dont let them create a hostile work environment for you..if need be, take it to your boss again if it continues. Whenever you're in a new situation there are people who want you to fail. Maybe they wanted that job and didn't get it; maybe they see that you doin a good job makes them look bad; maybe a friend of their's used to have the job and didn't last. You'll never really know.
But you're doing what you were hired to do and that's all that's important.
I've seen a few of these little things in my new job too. My staff likes to live a lot in the past (well, some of them) and hold grudges against others for very long periods of time so that everytime I come up with something I get a freaking history lesson. But, it's all good. I have the job, the other guy doesn't!!!
