This was my day today 2:45 am I was awaken by a cat fight outside Our Jack russel went nuts barking and growling so Dh closed the windows and I tried to go back to sleep lol At 4:30 I let out our old beagle all was fine he spent abot 20 mins out there tried to go back to sleep 5:31 was the last I looked at the clock
6am the alarm goes off and I notice our old beagle panting really heavy I get up he gets up only to fall down He can't stand or walk I get dressed and tell Bill he needs to get up to take me to the vet In the meantime I can't find the one cat you know the one I told you about two weeks ago lol So I go outside and call her and I can hear her faintly she's under the shed it takes 3 of us to get her out and she has blood on her sooooo two animal to the vet
They clean her up and determine that the beagle has a ear infection and he's dizzy and that is why he can't walk $350 dollars and 4 med sbetween them later I return home
Now Mom had a foot Dr's appt today they came to pick her up and drop her off thank goodness that fell inbetween the vet visit BUT she comes home all tired and weak I asked 5 times if she wanted to go to the er she says she is fine just tired sooo
She is getting ready foor bed and needed my help which she has gotten better at after she is dressed she goes in her room and goes to get in bed and falls forward onto the walker and teh bed It took all dh and I had to get her up and turned around and in bed
Now I know what is gonna happen in the am It's fri so dh has to leave no later than 7:45 for work I have a eye dr appt at 8 and need to leave at 7;45 as well Bill is taken me I know she is goinmg to have some sort of problem I feel myself breaking I can not miss my appt with my dr Gary can not miss anymore time from work or there will be problems there Nick has already been out of school for a week a couple of weeks ago for his stomack thing I have noone to leave her with so she is gonna have to just sit in the chair and not get up I can
t take it trying to handle both our health issues while still trying to keep the house running without anyone losing theri jobs I am at my wits end 1|1|Cye T.....|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|23:03:26|09/11/2008|

I feel your stress. Will insurance pay for anyone to sit with her? Lisa (Ranalt) may know of some resources that would be able to sit with her. Does she still go to the senior center? I think I remember she used to go and they'd pick her up? Is she able to go their?

Last night I got her dressed for bed and she was in her room and fell onto the bed face first onto the walker we got her in bed and she had a quiet night but this am she couldn't get out of bed it took two of us to get her up but she could not even sit so we laid her back down and called for an ambulance she also was not very responsive when we were talking to her Gary went with her as I need to go to the Dr's for my eye and then I will be going to the hospital
My dog is no better this am I could only get one pill in him he doesn't even want pork roast or cold cuts or even cheese which is his fav He has just stood and peed in the house 3 times since yesterday I have only seen the cat out from under the bed once this am
Please keep us all in your prayers I can not go on doing this and I have no choice in finding a place where she can get the care she needs 6|2|Sending a hug and prayers|couponshelmd|couponshel@comcast.net|07:23:36|09/12/2008|

I don't know how you have been doing all of this care for all of these months/years? Gosh Teener, sometimes the difficult decision to place a parent in a care facility is the healthiest choice for all family members. I am so sorry to hear that your mom is not doing well again, plus I am sure it is hard for you to get to your appointments on time and with any confidence that she will be okay for a bit on her own.

Wish we were closer, I bet there would be a line of folks from this board at your house if we could be there to help!
Shel 7|3|Pal, got your email this morning....I have to run to Lowe's later this morning for a countertop and tile for the kitchen, but I'll be home later (after 1pm my time)...call me if you need to talk...and you all are always in my prayers...I think Shel said it well, that placing your mom would be the healthiest for all of you including your mom....I love you, friend...|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|07:57:59|09/12/2008|

I have to agree w/Shel here. It is NOT an easy decision but sometimes it really is the best one for everyone - most importantly, for you & your mom. A care facility is able to provide 24/7 care for your mom & w/the around the clock monitoring & care, the nurses can nip it in the bud should your mom begin to develop any type of problem. This would not only be less stressful for your family but give you some peace of mind that your mom is being monitored by experienced professionals who know what signs/symptoms to keep watch for. It would likely also decrease the number of ER trips for your mom, therefore alleviating some of the stress for her. You can check them out in person & even ask the families of other residents how they & their loved one feel about this or that facility. Make a list of questions if you want & don't be afraid to ask them. If your mom enters one & it doesn't feel right or work out, there is NO law that says you can't sign her back out of it. ;) It's a tough decision to have to make but you can go see her anytime you want, visiting at various times of the day/evening, as many times a day as you want, so the care facility never knows for sure what time you'll be coming. ;) They usually have to anyway, but for your own peace of mind, give them explicit instructions that they are to call you as soon as there seems to be a problem, ANY problem, at ANY time. I made sure my dad had his own phone so he could also call me ANY time, & that he did. LOL I also very clearly informed the staff right from the get-go that I'd better not hear about any "accidental" falls/injuries & I didn't want to see/hear about ANY new or unexplained bruises or bed sores, or ANY sluffing when it came to bathroom needs, changing bedding, etc. I'm not sure how it is at other care facilities but the one that my dad was at, I could eat meals w/him there, bring him anything he wanted (except booze & cigs. LOL), & take him out shopping, just for a drive, fishing, home for the entire day & even home for overnights if he wanted. If he wasn't up to being out & about for a day, I might go spend the morning w/him & then come back again in the afternoon sometime & maybe even go back again after supper. Unless I was going to be picking my dad up for something, the nursing home NEVER knew when/if I'd be coming. ;) I did this for my own peace of mind altho I quickly realized the nursing home was an excellent one so I had nothing to worry about. However, I also spent as much time w/him as possible cuz I didn't want him to feel like he was being forgotten or not cared about, espcially the 1st couple of months. Initially, it was very hard on both my dad & I & I cried ALOT. W/in a few wks., however, we were both ok about it & as time went on, I came to realize it likely contributed to keeping my dad in better shape longer. ;)
Sorry this is so long but HTH some. ;)
Hang in there Tina!
Tami :)

I am so sorry to hear you are going through so much girlie. I've been praying for you and your family. It's so hard to make decisions where our parents are concerned, I took care of my dad and off for 20 years and it was so hard at times. The last few years were really bad cause his health was deteriorating(sp?) and it took a toll on my hubby and kids. I wish you the best and hope things work out for the best for you. Hugs, Rebekka

15|1|update on Mom ,Me and Sam|teener|teenerzacsneenee@yahoo.com|22:20:41|09/12/2008|

Posted on Sep-12-08 at 10:20 PM (Eastern) by 96.28.98.152

First with Mom she was admitted to the hospital today By teh time they got her to the er she was running a fever and complaining of her legs and arms hurting bad They ran some blood work and they know she has an infection but do not know what is causeing it We went to see her tonight after she was setled in and she was asleep when we got there so I woke her a bit so I could talk to her but if I turned my head to say something to Gary or Mike she fell back to sleep she is very groggy sounding Her Dr was in today and will be back in tomorrow so I will make contact then when he knows more
With me things went well wit the dr and I am actually seeing the best I have out of the left eye he thinks it is because he took the stitch's out so in two weeks I go see the other dr and she will see what she can do to help further the good eyesight
Now Sam is worse today than yesterday and we were having a tough time getting his meds into him we tried all his favs but he just doesn't want to eat so we had to resort to a syringe and melting down the pills he doesn't like it but we got his meds down I am worried that it is not the ear infection as he is not compalining when we touch his ears but rather the worse ( brain tumor) which is the other thing they said it could be :(
The kitty is fine back out from under the bed and sitting on my desk as I type the dr said she did not see any signs of her being preggos so as soon as I can gather the funds she be getting fixed
So keep us in your prayers I think we are way off from this all being well again
Hugs
