today he weighed in at 150!! It was so good talking to him.. SIGH...I had a major depression bout last night
thinking of him...and I needed that phone call!!! God works in mysterious ways...It's been 10 days since I talked to him
and I was really needing this call....SIGH...my baby is growing up.. His letters are so serious...and i'm so proud of him already!!!

You should be proud of him, I'm proud of my "nephew"!! 3|1|That's wonderful you got to hear his voice :) It would seem he is adjusting well. As for the weight gain, I highly doubt the Army is a better cook than you are Shelly, lololol. But that is wonderful he is experiencing growth not just physically but in his maturity and responsibility....he is a fine young man, you did a great job Shelly!|saint6811|waylan@comcast.net|08:50:22|09/07/2008|

he was so mature I could not believe it! If you can try to attend his graduation from Basic training you will rememeber if forever. My son was so happy we could attend. He gave us a tour of his housing area and we met his trainer. I cried all the way home both from joy and sadness that I had to leave him. The boy that I dropped off at the airport no longer. He had become a very grown up man and I was busting with pride and awe. Our relationship has changed over the last few years he has been in the military sadly he is in Iraq now and will be their until who knows when, but he keeps in touch as if he were still in the states. Shelly my son said he had a lot of time to think about home and his relationship with his family and he said he was amazed I did not want to trade him in when he was a teenager! Don't let the depression get you time does go by quickly and he will need you more than even he thinks. I am sure that he has time to reflect on a lot of things and soon he will let you know his feelings about you and the family. My husband (and my X) both were Military men and both have the best memories of their entire military careers rooted on that one special day. Plus I also have a best friend who was Air Force and always talked about his mom being there for that day, especially since she wasn't very involved as a parent...

I know that it is an incredibly proud and special day for those military persons and it's so important and memorable for them that their family is there in some fashion.

I am so proud of your son! ...please tell him that his is prayed for and respected immensely for his choice to defend and support his/our country. That is such a self-less act and he should be thanked for his decision. You must have been an incredible parent to raise such a good man!

Take care,
