I used to like my gray hair. Untill I had my last child at the age of 40. Now all my friends said I look nice with gray hair it is the really white gray not yucky looking. Then when I had my last child at 40 and everyone would say to me what I beautiful GRANDBABY you have. This happend so much that one time I was in the store and 3 times people came up to me and said this. I stared to cry right there in the store. (A little post pardome still)I went to the hair dry area and colored my hair that night.

that you had a baby at 40! I am 37 & can't imagine keeping up with a little one! Last night I went to a planning meeting for my 20 yr. h.s. reunion. One of my old classmates came in with her 2 mo. old baby (she also has a 13 yr. old) and another sat there & was crocheting a blanket for her grandchild! I couldn't handle either situation myself! 4|1|The bottle of hair coloring has been my best friend.....|Quietwaters|Quietwaters39@hotmail.com|14:57:09|01/14/2004|

since 19. If I pulled it all out I would be bald. I always say better gray than bald. You know it is bad when your kids tell you, mom time to cover the roots.

Hi I am a grandmother 4 times over and I wear my hair spiked, with a tail, ears pierced 11 times each, hand pierced and toes rings. Hair colors have ranged from very blue, green, orange, purple(being my favorite) but mostly I bleach it out completely white. My children just shake their heads and say "thats my mom". The grandchildren love for me to do my hair and be different. The only problem is they want me to do their hair ages 10, 12, 13 & 15. That is between them and their parents. Have a great day. You're a grandmother but you don't look or act like it! hahah I am a step grandmother and I feel SO old when my grandson calls me grandma. In my heart, I still feel like i'm a teenager, like i'm in a time warp or something!! Just a few weeks ago someone at the ER told me I looked like trouble and I asked them WHY? And they said because i didn't look old enough to have an 89 year old father, that I looked like I was full of trouble. I wonder what that ment? :) I am 47 and haven't seen my true hair color in probably 25 years. I started getting alot of gray hair all at once about 5 years ago. I still haven't really searched for a good hair coloring product that dyes it but it doesn't look bad since I dye my hair blonde. You can still see it, but it doesn't look bad. The hair color sort of makes it shine. My grandson would do a flip if he knew that his grandmother had a BIG tatoo of a lizard of her left breast! See? just because we are grandmothers, doesn't mean we have to act like it.. I self-piece my ears and I do encourage my three kids to dye their hair weird colors or do whatever they want with it.. 7|1|Guess I better stop pulling out the few grays that I find|pumamomma|pumamomma@aol.com|17:39:07|01/16/2004|

Just thought that was an old wise tale!!! I too had my last baby at age 37 but I still seem to manage keeping up. I have 5 kids with ages 15,13,12, 3 1/2 & 2. I have very long hair & everyone always asks if it is hard to take care of. Actually it is very easy to take care of. I wear it up alot. I do, however, want to get highlights & lowlights put into it. Maybe carmel color. I have never done anything to it except spiral perms. PLMK if anyone has done this & what I should expect. I have always been a person to stick with things (trends) that I like. For instance, for about 8 years now I have worn a toe ring (yes the same one for 8 years), I remember when I had my last 2 babies the nurses commented how cute it was that I was wearing a toe ring. I have ALWAYS wore an ankle bracelet for about 20 years (no not the same one, when one breaks I get a replacement), I have 3 ear piercings in each ear (all done by myself or relative), I wear a homemade bracelet with all my kids names on it (I get lots of compliments on it). I have wanted a tattoo for many years just never have the money or the time without kids to go do it. Just found out that my cousins wife is a tattoo artist & that she has a studio in their new house so thinking about asking her. My tattoo is nothing special just would like to get all my kids' names seperated by hearts tattooed around my ankle (just like the bracelet I wear)thinking then I would no longer need jewelry ankle bracelet?!?!?!?!?!? Thanks for letting me share & please do let me know what you think on the hair coloring & tattoo idea. Thanks. 8|2|Tatoos|destiny|destinyroger@yahoo.com|11:56:15|01/17/2004|

Hi again,
It's not very often that I have the oppertunity to talk about my tatoo. It's the normal lizard size and has five different colors. It cost me $80. I don't show it to anyone except maybe when the subject comes up, which isn't very often. My oldest daughter was with me when I got it because I wanted her to see how painful it was. At the time, she wanted to get a smiley face on her big toe but after see saw the pain I went through, she changed her mind! My youngest aged 17, self-pierced one of her ears this past week. I have done mine in the past too and I had to stop myself from telling her "NO". I was young once too so I had to try and remember that.. Good thing was that I was there and she told me first so I was able to make sure she sanitized and did it right. I stop at tongue or belly piercings though. I try to be "cool" but I draw the line that those two and besides, they can get infected real easy I hear and they send off sexual messages too.

I too agree with the "bad" about them but I have considered getting a very very very tiny diamond piercing put on my nose. I have seen a couple of people with them very very very tiny & not so noticeable. I have nose holes that kinda flare out so don't think it would be very noticeable.

I see these people that are all tattooed & pierced up & that is NOT me!!!! EVER!!!! I don't like to be noticed or looked at or even have people compliment me. I know who I am, what I look like, what I like & don't like in trends, fashion, etc.... I do what I do for me & not for any other reason. Call my personality weird but that is just the way I am. I don't copy trends, fashion, etc.... to get attention or to be like others or for any other reason except for myself. Thanks for letting me share.

I am 24 years old, been married for almost 6 years and have 3 little boys. My oldest has had every color of hair imaginable...red, blue, green, purple..etc..even in family pictures and school pictures he has wild spikey colored hair. I too have had every color imaginable including Hot pink highlights. *permanent, not wash out*. I also have 9 holes between both ears, a hole in my nose, and a hole in my eyebrow. I also have a tattoo on my right ankle/calf of 3 frogs (representing my children) and an angel above them looking down (representing my aunt and the baby i lost). I do also pierce other peoples ears including my brothers, husbands, sisters, and friends. My son, (5) wants his ear pierced also.

I have had people tell me that I set a bad example for my children. They say I am immature and a "freak"...lol I admit to the freaky part but the rest I say this...It does NOT matter what color my hair is, how many holes I have in my body, or how many pieces of art i have done on my canvas, what matters most is the love i have in my heart for my children and the people that surround me. My children know that they are free to be themselves around me and as long as it is something that is not going to endanger their lives, i'm up for it.

We as parents have to set examples for our kids. It does not matter if you are against piercings or tattoos or if you are for them. You choose what is right at that time in yours and their lives. When they are older, they will make their own decisions.

For anyone worried about infection in piercings...as long as you go to a CLEAN LICENSED piercist you should have no problems. Just dont ever use peroxide and dont ever use antibacterial gel..that is when you get problems..use dial antibacterial hand soap and it keeps it clean, keeps it safe.

As far as the tattoo ankle bracelet idea...I LOVE IT! in fact that is what i was actually going to do in the first place..still might :) GO FOR IT!

zokay, I think i've shared enough...lol 1 more thing though, i do want 3 more piercings..but I cant tell you wear ;)

If you've had piercings or tatoos and somebody starts talking about them, all of a sudden you are wanting another one! Alot of people just get a tatoo for self-enjoyment and for nobody to see but themselves.. While I was getting mine, I was very surprised to see the type of people coming in for one.. "Upity types wearing suits, ties, carrying brief case types.. I see nothing wrong with tatoos but having them cover almost your whole entire body, that's certainly not for me!
Years ago, when internet was rather new and BBS or chat rooms were relatively new, I met a group of local kids through our local BBS and talked alot of the guys into getting an ear piece. That sure was fun! One of them cried but he bucked up and that one little diamond in his ear, sure changed his appearence, for the good! ahahahaha!!!
