i watch a 3 month old and all she does is cry..... the only time she doesn't cry is when i hold her... but i can't hold her every second... she cries a blood curling cry (i think i spelled that wrong)... it is driving me crazy... everyday i want to quit... but i have to because of the money..blah blah blah

i think all her mom did was hold all day(first baby) and i can't do that because i have 4 other kids to watch...
she is feed, burped, diaper changed what else can i do????
the other kids talk and play with her.
swing works a little
her mom won't let her have a pacifer.ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
my kids never cried this(but of course they are angels with little pitchforks) :)

Sounds like you have gone through the whole checklist of what babies might need. Do you have a front baby pack or a sling you can use? Some babies just need a lot of attention. It would be nice if you could grow a few more hands, I know. :0)

I can't recall when the first tooth starts breaking through, but if that is possible and mom says no pacifier you can try to take a small baby washcloth and cool water and let her gum it a little bit. We also used to use a little bit of tea dilluted on a washcloth because the tanoc acid in tea can be soothing to sore gums. HTH a little. Hang in there-- maybe it will pass and she will become more content soon. Vanessa

My first... couldn't get through a grocery store without pulling my hair out. Lots of dirty looks (like I was pinching her or something???)

My second... much easier. Virtually never cries in the grocery store as long as we keep it to under an hour.

Try having the mom get you a snuggli or something. It is one thing to ask you not to use a pacifier, but be honest with her. Why doesn't she want her to have one? Orthodontic reasons? What does this woman do with her kid at home? Speaking from a mom who worked with her first, you really only spend a couple of hours with your kid that way. I'd get home, get dinner, etc. and before you know it, it was her bedtime. There were many days, I swear, that the daycare center ladies would be soooooo happy to see me pick her up! We didn't want to use a pacifier with our first, but it seemed to be what she really wanted. It is a self-soothing thing... they don't find their hands til much later. Would she rather spend 3 bucks and give it a try or have you quit?

I didnt think Id make it! The swing and pacifier was my savior! Id put on some classical music and wind up taht swing and he'd be aslepp in no time.We also used to set him in his car seat on teh washer-but then you have to stand there-would be hard to do watching other kids!

when my son cried constantly, the sound of a hair dryer or Vaccuum cleaner always did the trick...needless to say we bought a lot of cheap hairdryers to leave running!!!!

8 . "Try different kinds of music, maybe --->"

My older toddler used to love loud dance-type, hip hop music. Of course we didn't use that when he was supposed to be sleeping, but if he was crying or clingy or something during the day, we would put on something with a heavy bass to it and have him dance around. Maybe that might help? Or maybe a different type of music, something to distract her?

If it might be teething, try a damp washcloth that you have put in the freezer for awhile--chewing on the cold cloth and even just feeling it and playing with it can be a distraction.

And--something I never realized before I had kids--try to put him in different environments whenever she gets fussy. Like don't always have the bouncer in the same spot facing the same way, or move the swing into another room, lay with her on a blanket on the floor in a different room. Sometimes just the novelty of seeing something different may be distracting and calming.

Maybe try some tummy time with her--lay her down next to one of the other kids with some safe toys nearby.

Taking walks outside might be an idea--put her in the stroller and take all the kids for a walk, even if it is just down the street.

I don't know if any of these ideas will help, I just feel for you--it is very frustrating when a baby won't calm down, I know!

:) Michelle

My middle child cried non stop for 14 months...I swear!!!! The only thing that would make him stop or sleep was the vacuum cleaning running. Some babies like the "sound" to help calm them down. I would try it and see if it will help her.

she also had reflux, we had to switch her to nutramagin which was very expensive, but let me tell you it totally helped with the non-stop crying. She would cry for several hours straight. (she also did not use a pacifier)
