Ok over the last few weeks I have been having a lot of problems with my second pregnancy, I almost had a miscarriage and now I find out i have Complete Placenta Previa. I am so scared, my placenta is completely covering my cervix. Dr. says my water might break in another 10 to 15 weeks and then i will have to move into the hospital to try and keep the baby in as long as possible. I am currently almost 14 weeks pregnant so this is very scary. I work fulltime and now i am probably going to have to quit my job, i dont know if my family can make it with just my husband working as I make more money than he does. Please share any input, i do not know what to do. Thanks for listening feels good to get it off my chest.

sometimes the placenta can move, but it all depends. Don't be afraid to ask your doctor for more information. I know how busy our OB was (you are thinking "did I just have the world's fastest pelvic exam?") never seeming to stay in the room more than 3 minutes. As the baby grows, things shift around. But if it stays that way past like 28 weeks, you will probably have to have a c-section for the birth. :(

Well i expected to have a c section anyways bc i had one with my first daughter but its just so scary, when i was talking to him he just said all thats left to do is pray. I really like my OB but i think im going to go see a high risk dr in a town about an hour away, bc if i do have the baby that early they would have to send the baby there anyways, its just so much to think about all of a sudden. I need to check more into that disablity and see what i can get. The worst part about it-no sex until after i have the baby, that seems like forever, my husband wasnt very happy about that to say the least.

4 . "yes...my grandson's Mom has it..please read inside.."

Please be VERY careful with this condition..not trying to scare you, but it is a very serious thing. My close friend..who adopted my grandson(that is another story)...she lost several children due to this condition and at least 2 were very close to term. The last child was a beautiful little boy. She had just been to the dr..a specialist..a few days before. She wanted the Dr to take the baby as it was only a couple weeks from full term and was afraid something would happen as she had lost several babies before. The Dr said they couldn't do that unless the parents wanted to assume full responsibility for the payments..insurance said since the pregnancy had progressed normally to this point, would not pay for it unless she finished the term naturally. Didn't matter that they had been through this before and had losses due to it. A few days later..out of the blue..she felt the all too familiar signals which she had went through before. Sad to say, they lost the child. They gave up after that..they were of course emotionally devasted and just could NOT go through that again...just too hard on them naturally.
So please..do whatever the doctor tells you to do, and be prepared to have to deal with the insurance company if they give you a hassle over it. I will be keeping you in my thoughts and prayers and hope all goes well with your pregnancy. If you need any more info, please feel free to email me. (((HUGS))) ..kathy

5 . "I had it with both my children (more inside)"

It is very scary, but try not to worry too much. I know that's crazy to say, but stress is not a good thing in this condition. I was able to work, but they were required to follow the doctors orders. I believe this is a law. Do NOT lift anything that is over 5 lbs (if you even think it might be too heavy, don't do it), don't stretch to try to reach top shelves and stick to the no sex thing. Anything at all going into that area can cause the placenta to rupture whch can cause you to lose the baby and cause ou harm also. I did have my placenta move up just enough to have a vaginal delivery and be taken off all the restrictions, but we stuck to them anyway, just to be safe. My doc told me that in women who have shorter abdomens (not thin, just not a lot of space) it is more common. That there is no where for anything to go.

It is very scary and bedrest is quite common, but make sure you follow EVERY doctors order. It will hopefully move up and the doctors do tell you every worst case scenario so you are prepared. They should have you go for another ultrasound in a month or 2 and keep checking you more after that to see where the placenta is.

Please email me if you have any questions or need a shoulder. Trust me, I know how scary it is and it seems like they only tell you the negative.

6 . "I had Placenta Abruptia"

And boy I have to say that was the scariest thing I have ever experienced. Basically my placenta ruptured in the middle of the night so by the time I got to the hospital - they said emergency C-Section and no way could they allow me to be awake for it so no epi or spinal - they just totally knocked me out as they said I had lost so much blood it would have been way too dangerous to attempt anything else at that point.

Take care of yourself and my family & I will be praying for you!!!!

Genevieve

I am due July 29th but scheduled for a c section on July 21. If you are still early in pregnancy the placenta might migrate away. So don't give up hope yet. I am too far along so most likely its there to stay till the end. I do know they highly reccomend c sections with previa and you might have bleeding during the pregnancy. If you do please call your Dr. right away.

If you want feel free to email me.I know my placenta previa has made me a nervous wreck.
Oh I am not sure on what you Dr. reccomeded to you, but I was advised against sexual intercourse and to try and take it easy as much as possible.

Email me if you want to know more or need to talk.

Shirley
