Posted on Jun-16-05 at 02:38 PM (Eastern) by 24.115.107.7Just started South Beach Diet Yesterday. The 1st 2 weeks you are not aloowed any carbs, but you introduce them back in grdually after 2 weeks. No fruit for the 1st 2 weeks, and only some veggies. No Ketchup, BBQ sauce, Almost nothing with sugar in. No bars or wraps either. It tells you on the bars, wraps and anything with the South Beach Logo what phase you can have it in. I like the Meal Replacement bars, The cereal bars and the wraps. Someone told me their frozen foods are good too. My Dr. wanted me to do Atkins, but I was getting sick from it, so South Beach isnt all bacon and Eggs like atkins! LOL!
You can get the book that explains it all at Walmart in paperback for about $6. They also have a cookbook and a good fat & cards book I also got. The cookbook is great, as it even has recipes for South Beach Ketchup, BBQ Sauce and a ton of great recipes! it was about $18 at Walmart. The Good Fats, Good Carbs book tells you by each food if you can and can not have it and the phase(s) it is allowed in!
It seems very versatile and I am never hungry! The bars and I think the Wraps are able to be introduced after the first 2 weeks!
I lost about 35 lbs since the beginning of the year by cutting out fats, and cutting down on carbs and calories, but hit a plateau, so My Dr thinks this will help along with help my health problems I have been having.
