Has anybody had empty shelves? It is on the news constantly but here in The Florida Keys and over in North Fort Myers, all seems normal

I went to store 2 days ago and no fruit cups or cookies and no canned cat food on shelves. I ordered online today and will see what I get. I tried to get a pork roast for several weeks and the stores are out of the pork. There is very little meat on the shelves. Chicken is on most of the shelves but no ground beef or ground pork. The price of meat is very high and still going up. Many will have to go with out meat when it gets to high. With Thanksgiving coming up, will there be turkey or will it be so high no one can afford it. I have not seen whole ham on the shelves for many weeks now. So may there will be no ham or turkey.
Its only matter or time when people start filling carts and stocking up. The food banks will be out of luck trying to feed the people, They are already short on food.

I volunteer at our food bank and they're just fine.

hopefully it continues.

I know most of our pet food and pork products come from China. I made the mistake of buying Del Monte fruit cups last week and they were from China. ham steaks were BOGO at Winn DIxie for the usual price

have started their usual holiday advertising that you can get a turkey or a ham for $5 if you spend $30.....hope they don't change that.

I get locally caught fish and Key West pink shrimp which always make a good dinner

5 . "I do Instacart also but once a month I go to the store. "

There is times when Instacart brings back only part of my list. The shelves are empty and they just do not have the items that we need. They do have lots of candy and ice cream and chips, But beef it is hard to fine and the stores are keeping meat longer and many are freezing it. Rack of pork ribs are $50.00 and corn Beef is 35.00 to $40.00. Its getting bad but it will be getting worse as winter goes on. The heating bills will be sky rocketing so if you find some wood stock up. The stores are putting out very little meat on shelves and in the coolers. So if you can stock up on some of the things you use all the time.
I live in southern Ohio. Family Dollar was robbed in day light 3 times in one week last month. They did not even try to rob save a lot next door to family dollar.
By the end of the year gasoline will be over $5.00 a gallon or maybe more. Things are going to be tight for all.

Have a great day Gloria

what a difference - I am in The Florida Keys - all stores are normal - here are highlights from the Winn DIxie Flyer - these prices have not changed in years
whole cooked lobster $8
t bones $5.99/lb
Bacon 16oz. $5
center cut pork chops BOGO $5.99/lb
beef shoulder $5/lb

someone's prayers, but the very best
place to be is in the hands of GOD.

I do not think that a lot of people will buy the ham or the turkey at over $50.00 for one. Thats alot of money, but whats left to celebrate with. The turkeys and ham maybe hard to get for those that want one. I do not see a lot of ham in store lately and very little turkey. I did buy 2 turkey thighs a few weeks ago it cost me $9.95 for the 2 of them putout by Jennie'o. If 2 turkey thighs cost almost $10.00 think how much that turkey will cost.
The stores here have been short or out of Pepsi and the shelves of water is bare. Its getting harder to stock up on things that we need or always use.
Its already Impossible to stock cans of cat food because the can cat food shelves are bare. I order canned cat food from ebay or chewy. I find Petco impossible to shop at. I have a small kitten that likes cat food with gravy so i put her meds in the gravy and takes meds with no problem. I have tried Meijer for several weeks and no canned cat food. Purina keeps telling us to buy their stuff but you can net get it in the store. Last week I ordered a bag of cat chow and 6 canned of canned cat food, Instacart text me no canned and no cat chow.

Have a great day Gloria

I stopped using it years ago and only use people food that I know where it is sourced from or freshPet (the freshPet by me is 100% American but not sure if it is the same everywhere). China takes pieces and parts from dead animals, including skin and organ meat, ears and feet and mechanically crush them into pet food - then they're soaked in bleach and spray painted the appropriate colors.

12 . "Friskies is made in the United States"

Friskies is made in the United States and will source their high-quality ingredients within the United States, depending on availability
However, certain ingredients need to be outsourced (i,e: Lamb, Venison, Duck, Rabbit, Vitamin Packs, etc.) to ensure top quality and freshness while meeting a reasonable price point for pet parents.

you just answered your own question

it comes from Asia

all canned cat food does - I haven't seen a can in a while...what are the words on the can?

Made in the USA?
Processed in the USA?
Manufactured in the USA?

all 3 of those lines DO NOT mean made in America. My friend works for the grass fed beef association in Colorado and she is constantly lobbying the department of agriculture about the wording on these cans....on all food, for that matter.

you do you - no problem - my vegan friend feeds her cat cans with meat
