"Broke My Hip....Prayers Please!"

I have never felt pain like when I fell and the sound that came out of me was one I’ve never heard before. Had surgery to have a rod put in and now hopefully I can mend in a few months. Pat

Any idea why they put a pin in it instead of just replacing it? I always wondered about that

I’m not sure why my Surgeon 👨‍⚕️ put a Rod in rather than a replacement l’m sure it depends on the patient, where exactly the break is and other factors. I trust him and feel like he did what he thought was best for me. Thanks for the question. Pat

The rod is replacing the femer bone which got all broke up Mine splintered I also have cable screws and pins holding everything together It is working very well causes me no problems Getting the other hip replaced Oct 13th I was 80 when that happened and now 84 In too much pain so going for it Lucy

I thought the pin was in the neck of the femur, not in the femur itself

I hope you have an easy recovery with your hip replacement - had my 2nd one last May and had the simplest recovery yet - having it done anterior?
