Live simply so that other's may simply live!!!!!!

I go to big super stores now, loads of great items...super Walmart, super target, Costco
But I miss all those cozy little stores, I used to shop.
I found such great treasures, rebate forms for free food ( send in (3) upcs get a free coupon back)
We didn't trade online but forms were plentiful, I later found refunding make sense magazine and I
Lived for that magazine.
My customers saved me bags of cig upcs, I always had bunches to trade, and enough to get gifts for family and me.
My good friends and family saved me all their trash lol, I happily sorted it, some people called me crazy some
Called me smart or thrifty I didn't care it was my passion. I waited for my mailman to deliver me so many free items
I have never had much money so every box was loved and shared,
I later joined online trading and I was thrilled to be able to get trades so quick, I started the couponing and birthday boards on compuserve
Many years ago.
The trading then wasn't money,we didn't have paypal, we bartered, swapped, but like LIFE nothing stays the same.
I find very few Treasures when I shop now days, I see very few forms for free items, cig upcs are long gone, even Coke codes are
Pretty useless now.
Just a short little walk down memory lane, when I had very little money but always had something in my mailbox to look forward too.

Live simply so that other's may simply live!!!!!!

I loved the big conventions we had for trading. I remember going to ones in KY, OH, IL, IN and TN.
All those wonderful freebies that would come in, and I would save them for small gifts for the kids at Christmas and stocking stuffers.

It was all snail mail back then too. You would fax in your ad for the whole month to a refunding magazine. I would offer "Forms for a H/F and LSASE" ... LOL

I also remember when trade envie's had cute stickers all over them. And don't forget about trade slips 😁

The fun has gone from refunding & couponing.... well that's another story.

the absence of many food coupons from the SS and
even in the stores private sales there are less foods and more
meds and store related products that there are never any coupons
on anyway. coupons.com is a another example.

back when a $2 was great money. lots of free stuff. just gave away the last of my handyman tools from rayovac batteries. we had caps, tools, tool boxes/ t shirts, toys etc. i miss that stuff. miss the people at conventions, have many great memories. trading handmade stuff for deals. oh yeah. was a lot of fun.

and usually you only get one of them. Some times Kroger and Meijer do the 5X ones.

Everyone is falling in their “trap” for the high value
Attractive “ coupons “ offers” yes. You are all part of the reason why it will all come to an end.
Perhaps not the ones whom “ know better “ but the newbies.
I don’t use any coupons . Don’t even buy the papers anymore.

The New York Daily news is $1.50 a copy (on weekdays --- weekends slightly more).

The New York Times must cost a fortune on Sundays (terrible inserts).

In NYC, the best Sunday inserts were always found in New York Newsday (best inserts).
