IMPORTANT NEWS UPDATE: In our ongoing coverage of the latest E.coli outbreak linked to chopped romaine lettuce today, it has been confirmed that 121 victims (up from 84 last week) in 25 states have been affected and of them, 52 have been hospitalized.
14 out of 52 hospitalized have developed kidney failure, and one has died. The associated death is reported to be in California.
Still, no common grower, supplier, distributor or brand has been identified. This is the second major E.coli outbreak related to leafy greens this year.
