Ugh, I am so sick to my stomach... cried for the past 1/2 hour (my boys are acting strange because they know I am upset)! I got a bill today in the mail from our oil company. I did not know why since we are on a budget billing plan and I have a coupon book that I just sent the last coupon last week.

So, there is a large balance... since we started our contract with them last November, the one year of "budget billing" is over and they sent me the bill for the rest. Wellllll, payment is due within 10 days!!! I am so upset, because we actually need our tank filled for winter and they won't deliver (of course, since we owe them money) until I get the payment to them.

Just soooo frustrated right now, I really wish they would have let me know that there was going to be a balance due, I could have made extra payments this summer.

Thanks for letting me vent!!!
Shel

netwinner and cash out for the debit cc, gonna use that to be able to put towards my gas heating bill as our gas has gone up this winter..Do you do reward programs? that would help you this winter to be able to get up moola to help pay off that bill.

and they cannot deliver any oil under a new contract until we pay the balance due. I do some reward programs, mostly for paypal and have a little bit there to move to my checking account. Not to air my laundry, lol, but we just paid over $1400.00 in medical bills for my husband last month so our savings account is gone.

My parents normally give us cash as our Christmas gift, so if we can get through til the 25th on our other expenses we should be okay, it was just not a nice thing for them to do. UGH!

the same and they break it down into 12 months, then we start all fresh again. I understand totally about sickness/bills...my bf has been off work close to a year and doctor visits often, and sometimes we all need to vent our frustration it is okay..I truly hope everything works out for you, sending good vibes.

4 . "Thanks Linda :) They did that..."

Last Nov, they estimated how much oil we would use over the past 12 months and gave me a monthly amount... which I paid over the past 12 months. However, they way underestimated the amount of oil we would use OR they raised the price and did not adjust my bill (we are looking into this now, I asked them for a statement of deliveries etc). So, basically, my point was that after they stopped delivering oil which was in April (??) they should have contacted me to say the balance due is $xx.xx and we need to increase the monthly budget amount.

That would at least have given me all summer long to make up the difference, not waiting until now and telling me that I have ten days to pay; plus, the price of oil (like your gas) is really high so our budget billing will be $58.00 more per month for the 2008 budget. I can understand that part, lol, but not the balance in ten days.

Linda, sorry you have been having troubles, and thanks for "listening" to me :)

not sure what state u live in or your income, but try this...
http://www.liheap.org/
also, try your state website and do some searching. I know my state (NJ) will help pay bills in financial emergency situations up to a certain amount of money, plus there are also programs here to give you a free tank full of oil

GOOD LUCK!!!

Just a bad time of year for a bill like this one,... I actually am really good w/our budget but lately the medical bills have me "off" and now this one was totally unexpected as I am used to the budgeted monthly amount.

I appreciate the tip!

there is one program here just for your situation...basically you don't qualify for any type of state assistance (welfare, foodstamps, etc) and you have a one time problem due to things (like the medical bills) and as long as you can prove you make ur payments every month, they'll help one time

good luck!!

Can you call the board of health because you can't be left w/o heat. Maybe they can direct you somewhere.. but shop around for oil prices.

she pointed out that since we have good credit, another company will pick us up as customers and deliver oil before our tank is empty. Plus, she gets a better rate with her company than I was just offered today; I left a message at the company she uses and hopefully can switch companies for now.

I still need to pay this balance/bill, but I wouldn't need to stress about paying it in ten days .... that was the stinky part. I would then be able to use the money my parents give us for Christmas to pay off that balance but have oil in the present moment.

Thanks for letting me vent and for the ideas here! I appreciate the shoulder to cry on today!!

I quit using budget plans for that reason-just figured the electric in the summer was higher and the gas is higher in the winter so it equals out. Good luck!

This new company called me back and I applied over the phone ... the lady told me immediately that they will extend me credit and deliver oil on Friday!!! I am excited because now I can take 30 days to pay off the balance to the old company; plus the new company will give me 30 days.

So that means I can use my Christmas gift money to pay off the old bill; the my "budget amount" to pay the new company in January. This will work! The price was the same but this lady told me to call them when I get my last delivery in the Spring to see what I owe. Plus, my sister uses them and told me they give her a slip each delivery to tell her how much oil was delivered, so I can actually track my balance on my spreadsheet (delivery - budget payments).

Sis told me it was not worth crying about either, as she said no one in the family would let my babies suffer (me... that is another story, lol).

Thanks all!!
