Had a great time earning extra bucks in October. The cashiers here in mid-atlantic (blessed with several cvs stores between home and work) were friendly, enthusiastic and didn't mind putting through more than one extra care bucks coupon on a transaction.
Something has changed in the last couple of weeks. Every time I try to use any ECB there is a pause. Then the cashier asks if I have another card. No. They look at the card again and it matches the ECB. They try scanning the ECB again. Then they either call a manager or code the transaction as a cvs coupon. Then, if I ask to use a second ecb- even as small as $1, it comes up as 'too many coupons'. And I give up and use cash for the balance.
If this is happening to you- I encourage you to complain via phone, mail or email to the corporate level. I have done the same- one person, one complaint. If I buy three things in one transaction to get $1 or $2 ECB each, I should be able to use those ECB's on a future trip- not three future trips.
I know there are people who suggest splitting up the order and asking for three transactions. Since this is happening on the first scan of and ECB I don't think that would help. I also don't think I should be made to feel like I am trying to trick the system. They advertise more than one ECB offer in a week and I want to be able to do one each and use the ECB's.
I know this is happening to others out there. It is not the cashier's fault. Hang in there. Keep trying. And please, reach out to the corporate level once- whatever medium you are comfortable with. If they hear it often enough they are likely to fix the problem.

I know this is not a change for some people. Still wondering if it is a problem-whether new or old. Do you end up with lots of $1 and $2 extra care buck coupons? For me this started to be a problem in November the week I got $1 for exedrin, $1 for marathon bars, $2 for one kind of boost and $2 or $3 for another kind of boost. Bought the products on one shopping trip. But have to spend the extra bucks on four different shopping trips.
