I was in CVS earlier this week to buy a bunch of the stuff on sale and had ECB to cover the full cost (a $10 and $7 ecb cpn). They said I could only use 1 of these cpns each transaction so I ended up having to put stuff dosn and going there twice..

Now today by CVS got in the Pantene they were out of so I bought those. I got back over $15 in ECB but in various amounts -- $3.77, $5, and so on.

Can you only use 1 ECB coupon at your CVS? Just wondering. I hate having to back there several times just to get the stuff I want.

Shoot, i meant to type above seems like every cvs store has it's OWN policy.
ran to the same 2 cvs stores today, that i been doing these deals at...never had a problem, but i guess that all depends on what manager/cashier you get..cashier did'nt want to take more than 1 ecb buck, told her they been combining them for me all this time,she said no,she also "duh" said no to the $4 off 2 pantene as she said they are only $3.97 a bottle and the coupon is for $4..i told her yes, but i am purchasing 2 bottles to get $4 off, she did'nt get it!! so i asked for the manager..the first store manager told me i could only use 1 coupon,as the bucks say one per customer..and he would not ring up a seperate order for me to be able to do another deal...so i asked for scott the mananger, and explained the deal with the cvs bucks,told him i needed to use 2 ecb bucks as i did'nt have much cash money on me today and he was happy to combine 2 ecb bucks in one order....the other cvs store always combines ecb bucks and has'nt given me a problem so far....it's kinda hard sometimes to catch the stores when stock is in,when it is in i hate to make 2 trips to the same store in 1 day as i walk there and possibly miss out on getting the stuff i want, worried it will be sold by the time i get back...these deals are a challenge,been making friends with cashiers/managers to find out when deliverys come in etc...

** I think at x-mas time i will be passing out a couple boxes of gourmet candy, to those couple of cvs employees that don't give me a hassle...feel maybe if i acknowledge their kindness, and thank them for not giving me a hassle doing these deals, then a friendship will be formed...guess the employees figure why should they have to comply and be nice and give us a break,what's in for them..which most customers don't give store employees gifts..worth it to me to do this, rather than have the headaches..I do this for my fav's at jewel, and they do appriciate i thought of them...

** so far i been lucky at the 1 cvs i visit often, guess no one here is doing the playtex sport, or kotex ultra pads & colgate, as they always have alot in stock for me..

My stores will not combine ECB's but have no problems of me doing more than 1 order, sometimes I do 3 at once! (I have already done 6 at once when the store wasnt busy or there were 2 cashiers on)
NOW, please remember if they are combining your ECB and not scanning them (I know the computers here will only let you use 1 per transaction) They will not be taken off of your account, if that happens and you end up with more than 30 ECB/CVS CRT coupons in your account, your ECB will no longer print. This is very confusing and very hard to understand, but it is happening to alot of people on another board. I just dont want to see this happening to people because of this 30 thing. All mine are scanned, and I know sometimes if they are printed out there is no barcode and f they dont know how to do it, they just put it in as a CVS coupon (Thats the way it shows up when it is scanned also, so its hard to tell unless you watch them) HTH!

I went to CVS and had 3 ECBs. I asked the cashier if I needed to separate my order, and she looked at me like I had two heads. :) She said no need for that, they will all scan on one order, and they did, with no problem. She did have to call the manager over to fix the free Hershey syrup coupon WYB 2 Hershey bags, that she accidentally scanned as a plus instead of a minus.

5 . "It seems like it depends on how the Registers are programmed which it must be done by the managers! I remember at 1 time this same store anything over a $10 ECB needed manager approval, now it is over $20! So I guess it just depends. I talked to the manager and he said it is because it specifically says on the coupon 1 per person, so that is why.. Dunno! LOL! Everyone has to try at their store and see! "

that she can use as many as she has products for, for example if she has 5 items she can use 5.


I love this ECB thing, so far here is what I have done:

I have spent about 50 out of pocket and gotten approx 170 in ecb, and I have more coming tomorrow! This is so much fun!

(this just happened to me today) the computer doesn't "like" ecb's for the same amounts.

ie: i tried to use 2 - $3.77 ecb's and the computer refused one of them. now the ecb's themselves have a serial number (so to speak) at the bottom of them so the manager and cashier knew they were not the same ecb, the manager pushed the 2nd one through but i won't be doing that again.

i don't like having the managers come up and "survey" the damage. lol i'd prefer to use different amounts in the same transaction OR do separate transactions just to keep my nose clean and the managers out of my hair. lol :)

They told me they do have a limit of how many bucks you can print out per month, which is 30 max "active" in your account under "current coupons", if you go over 30 in 1 months time they will not print...they said they have this in place to prevent misuse,as they feel giving 30 ecb bucks a month is a good amount...i have 10 still showing in my account, that i have already used this month, they said that is not a problem,and once my coupons hit expiration date(30 days) they are deleted from my account,even those i have printed up online & those that have been combined...i notice my dove is gone which exp 10/08.

** since some coupons are combined & not scanned,or printed online, they have no record of usage,so those remain in account for 30 days till they hit expiration date, so people will have time to use them if they have not done so...

** they also told me that those ecb bucks that are scanned & deleted from account are still counted towards the 30 max "active" total for the month, he said we may not see those coupons appear in our account under "current coupons" anymore but they keep all our info on there data base, and once there data base shows on there we reached 30 max all active in 1 month, we will not be able to print more until,some drop off and hit their expiration dates.

** in a nutshell, he expalined this, say you did the dove deal they expired 10/08..once they expired, they do not show up as "active" anymore, they drop off, they are no longer counted towards the 30..

** another example he gave was say you went gunho on the pantene deal,and did it deal 30 seperate times, they show up "active" till they hit expiration date...so it won't let you get anymore cvs bucks till those expire...


** I guess that is why some people have more than 1 cvs card...as there is a 30 max "active" per card/month,regardless of what shows in your account...

Now I think what the people at CVS told you was WRONG! LOL! Not surprising thought. It can not be 30 a month, PLUS it does count those CRT coupons you get! The way I understnad, as long as they are scanned and used they are removed from your account. So I keep all CVS CRT and ECB coupons and count them! I had a few CVS CRT coupons that expired yesterday, thank god as I had 16 of them print when I went in today, 9 of them were those stupid CRT coupons! But I know for a fact a few months ago I had more than 30 in a month, but not 30 in my posession (That I had spent some) KWIM? Hope I didnt make it more confusing! LOL! CVS CRT coupons are usually only good for 2 weeks or so, thank god! LOL!

on there as a permanent record, as i asked them if 8 months from now, if i have to scroll past those 10 i have listed under "current coupons" to view the new one's? lol! they said no, so hoping they are right...guess i will see if when they hit expiration if they will be removed, or stay in my account and still see them 2 years from now.

** not really concerned about going over the 30 max limited, if that is true,will probably on lucky months reach 20 as that is alot of stuff to get every month,and i have a small family and don't need a large amount of stuff..

viewed some boards tonight, and one lady was boasting about getting 500 + bottles of dove the first week the promo ran...now my first thought who needs that much dove? and my 2nd thought she must have money to be able to purchase all those,so i doubt that she is a person that counts on flea market sales to make ends meet..she must know several managers at several cvs and probably bought them by the boxes when they came in...i am sure cvs is going to question those mangers as to why they let one customer purchase a huge amount of dove...another lady boasted about getting 120 boxes of tampons the first week of promo..my thought is why do people have to be greedy & hoard all this stuff? okay, maybe a small percent of people possibly need to do large amounts so they can resell at flea markets or etc,but do they need to snag 120 boxes of tampons per week? i've been doing these deals and do not make a habit of clearing the shelves out of stock,i get what i need and i save some for other customers to be able to do these deals as well,...i been doing these deals, and have bought just what i know i will use,some to give to family, and some to donate to a food pantry..i am not hoarding mass amounts of stuff,getting only amounts of stuff that i know will get used, and won't be sitting on a shelf somewhere for years...i think cvs is catching on to these people that are buying big masses, and are freezing accounts to slow them down on there spending spree,i talked with my family tonight on this issue and they all agreed that some people are going to ruin this "good thing" for the rest of us...i bet when it comes to audit time and they see how much product they gave away for free,they may re think this program and end it or set stricter limits on how many bucks you can get per month...

I have been getting what we need, there's 4 girls in our family, so the kotex and playtex are very much needed as is the colgate toothpaste, but I don't have the luxury of time to hoard. Most of the items are out in our area, I would love to get more Pantene, but that's been out for days. I work part-time and we are down to 1 car, so I only get to go out every few days, which works out well. BTW, one of our local CVS' has a machine to print your ECB so you do not have to buy anything (I fund a gift card to get mine to print, AND all of our stores let me combine ECBs).

These people who are getting cases worth should get a job, lol, I mean, these ARE the people ruining it for the rest of the US and when CVS catches on and stops doing these promotions, THEY'LL be the first to complain!!! I'm just happy to use my coupons, matched with rebates to get the items free, it is helping with Christmas funds!!!

Remember though even though ECB are given by CVS, CVS & the Manufacturer do these, so this is not money out of CVS's pocket. They actually are making money between the manufacturer, the manufacturers coupons plus people spending the ECB in their store (remember most items are marked up over 300% of what they actually pay for it!For CVS iit is probably more like 500%) That is why you can not use ECB on Alcohol, stamps, gift cards, etc, as these are the items they do not make money off of, they have them as a convenience to their customers.
I do believe people are abusing it. I have gotten so little as someone in our area, mind you we do have 2 stores and EVERYTHING is sold out! The trucks came in today, so I have to take a cat nap and then go back to see if they have anything. All the stuff I buy I can use, or I give to my family that can use it. I do not resell, or if I do it is to friends and family. I do not have yard sales or go to flea markets.
I guess I really should be quiet though, as I did buy 153 cans of Veggies, fruit, tomatoes and broth when my giant had the delmonte promo! But I rarely take everything off the shelf unles there is ony a couple of the item! I had a lady last week, I put 3 purell in my basket, she reached in my basket and took it out. I flipped, I told her ya know you could have asked and I would have given you one! She said well you dont need 3 I said what do you know! I work in the health field and use it like it is water.. RUDE people, she is probably the one hoarding at both stores lol! Ok Im done complaining now lol

glad to hear there are others like me that just need some of these things to help makes ends meet,and be able to help family out as well...Bonnie i did'nt know that some cvs stores have machines that will print coupons out,are they found near a end cap of the isle's or where do they put them? i will look for one at my stores...To kandy i found that lady's behaviour rude...very rude to reach in your basket and take one,and your gut is probably right...she is probably one of the hoarders clearing out the shelfs...may we all have a great week & get what we need..

at least in our store. Haven't seen any in other stores yet, but they are all kinda set up a little differently, so maybe?? Bummer part is, and I knew this would happen, the printer was out of paper! Just my luck!
I learned on another forum to fund yourself a giftcard using your cvs card first and that will print out the ecbs. I found this to be a novel idea as I keep giftcards as backups in my wallet anyway (gas ones are very handy!!)

Kandy, I cannot believe some people!!!! But let's at least hope they raise their kids better behaved.

I devote a lot of time each week, like many of you do, rebating and couponing. Most of what I buy thru MIR rebates, coupons, and different stores' special promos I donate to a local military support group with which I volunteer. Since I don't work due to a physical disability, I also give some of it to my family to help out, or I save it for birthday and holiday gifts. So sometimes I do buy a lot, especially of items like shampoo or toothpaste of body wash, or goodies for my 4 y.o. niece. BUT the majority of these are all items which are sorely needed by the military and charities. There's no way I could afford to pay for all of the items myself. However, I never buy more than I know can be used or "hoard". Sadly, people who buy outrageous amounts are going to ruin a really good deal for all of us.

I know one of the cashiers at CVS, she works at another group home in our area, and does CVS part time, She called me last night at work because she wanted to let me know everything was almost sold out. 2 Ladies went in yesterday and with about 15 different ECB got 4 carts FULLLLL over full actually of items for pennies! They got in 46 Pantene Ice shine with the shampoo, conditioner, hairspray, mousse, they bought them all but 2 (She hid a bunch for me, but they found all but these 2) All of the Act Restoring, All of the Playtex Sport, All of the Purell! I bet they have a store and are reselling the stuff, she said the other cashiers said they have been doing this for the last 3 weeks. I was able to get 12 pks of Kotex Pads, and 3 Act Restoring in the otehr store, but both stores are already wiped clean and the truck just came in yesterday. My sister could really use some of the damn shampoo and conditioner and noone will leave me any.. damn them.. makes me mad! So from now on, I buy all I see! Screw them, I am sooo tired of this! I try to be nice and leave people some but noone will do the same for others, it is sad. she said they had 4 ECB for over $75 each and with the coupons etc. They got each cart full for less than $0.50

I don't think my stores here would let someone buy so much of one product,or at least not use all 4 ecb bucks all in one haul...kandy glad that you made a friend with the cashier and she hid some stuff for you aside, that is cool that you have someone that works there looking out for you, glad you were able to grab something's at least and feel your frustration....

She only noticed them with 2nd $75 ECB because it has to be approved by the manager. They can not stop people from buying. The manager told me that before! It is sad that people are so greedy, especially if they are reselling!"

not let me do seperate orders...my other cvs store does take multiple cvs bucks, they ring them seperate for me or together, my choice...i went to cvs tonight...almost everything was gone! i grabbed the last 4 boxes of tampons,and left the store angry myself,they said that they put in a request for the pantene, but have been waiting for shipment for almost 2 wks now...the supplies are out at there warehouse,so they don't know if they will get anymore in this month...hoping they do as i still have a couple coupons i bought, that i need to use up...

Went to a remote, new CVS, literally in the boonies (but isn't it all out here???) and was able to get what I needed, which wasn't much, just 8 items all together. I'm curious, everyone is after the tampons, pantene, act and purell it seems. Hasn't the hoarders in your area figured out the toothpaste, Samy shampoo as well?? TONS of both in my area. The Colgate blue and green are gone, as they were the pictured ones, but the deal still works on the red and purple ones (which we prefer anyway) so that's been a consolence. Pantene here, forget it, I gave up, if I find one, bonus!, but they only put 2 out if any, and most stores here don't even carry it.
Have to go back today to get the Bayer deal, found my coupons for those and the kids like the vitamins.

Ok, so I didn't even know that our cvs did this. Anyways, I registered online today, and had to call because my information was not right, and wouldn't update. My question is, I have a 16.40 points balance that expired on 9-30-06. Will they fix it and let me use them if I call? Has anyone ever had them do this? Just a bummer to lose out.

I just find it easier to do them in the store, as some cashier do not know how to use them, and if they are large amounts, it is hard to use them, as it is hard to figure out how to validate them. that way I don't buy something I don't need and I can turn around and use the card to pay for what I am getting. Learned this on another forum, works for me!! That and I keep it as emergency cash.

This past week and this week CVS offered a choice of 3 cute Halloween bear WYB 3 Hallmark cards, including the $0.99 ones. According to the CVS clerks our stores hardly got any in, and those that they did were gone in a flash. I think it's false advertising to advertise them a second week when they know there's no way they will have enough to meet demand. *pout*

and i was outta bucks, so bought a candy bar to get my new bucks to print...but find this awesome as sometimes my store is packed,and only 1 cashier and hate to have to wait in line for 15 minutes to get my bucks printed up. I now keep 1 ecb buck handy, so i can just spend that one and use the new one's printed for my next visit to the store,but find the machine will come in handy when i need it...
