"Anyone ever tried KAVA for relaxing, trying to quit smoking "

I've heard that Kava can be very relaxing. When I try and quit smoking I get very edgy and anxious. I thought maybe the KAVA would help.
I'd like to hear any ideas you have!

It's just a minor lift, which is helpful if you tend to
smoke when stressed but aren't on other anti-depressants.
Not every vitamin store is carrying it anymore, though.
There have been some warnings about possible side effects
on the kidneys. HOWEVER, there's a question about the
source of those warnings. The pharmaceutical companies
tend to lobby against anything that they feel will threaten
their business. Clearly, if people use Kava to take the
edge of quitting smoking, then they won't be buying the
more expensive Zyban/Wellbutrin.

I'm not on any medicine of any kind. I was hoping that the stress I feel when I've tried to quit smoking would somehow be a little more tolerable if I took something like KAVA.
