Would like to know when it's safe for mine to start using a pillow. Sometimes his hands are under his head while he's asleep and sometimes he has his blanket balled up under his head like a pillow.

they pose a sufication risk as they can ball up under their neck, also the blanket if long or wide enough can wrap around their neck. My other daughter did not get a pillow until she came out of her crib and went to a bed.

Hope this helps....

He's always had a blanket with him. It was just up until a couple months ago, (he's almost 8 months old now) that he would take his blanket and make it like a pillow for himself. Since he was born, if he couldn't breath while you were holding him he would lift up his neck and move his head to where he was comfortable and can breath. Now, it wasn't until he was about 2 1/2 months old (and sleepless nights) that we realized that he did not like to sleep on his back. I would check on him in the middle of night and he would be on his stomach. So I started putting him on his stomach. Then when he began to roll over, he would cry bloody murder in the middle of the night because he rolled over on his back and couldn't figure out how to roll back over. So we would roll his back over on his stomach and he would go back to sleep. NOW!!!!! LOL, in everyway he looks just like daddy, BUT! his sleeping habits are just like mommy :) He goes to sleep between 7-8 at night and wakes up around 11am- 12:30 pm. So he gets over 12 hours sleep a night, not to mention the two naps he takes in the day time. He's a good sleeper. :) All babies are different. What may be right for one, may not be right for another.

was about 1years old. I'd always go to her crib and check on her and there she was all proped up on her carebear, so I figuered shed love a pillow, and I was right! It's one of those tiny air plane pillows. I bought it at walmart for like $2.00. We've been threw lots of pillows, just don't get one of those foam ball filled ones, because you can't wash it. I had to throw hers aways. Alissa is her name. She is 18 months now and still in her crib. I'm not sure when to change her to a bed myself. But I know it's not time yet, because she would probauly be in the toilet or something, while we sleep! LOL So can't help you on that one.

and if she had to go in the night she could get up and go, our room was across from hers so I could here if she got up.
