My DH has had this for many years. Nothing OTC or perscription seems to make it go away. Does anybody know of anything home remedy that actually works?

A few weeks ago, my husbands friend told him about soaking his feet in bleach/water mix. He said that's what the homeless shelter told his homeless brother and it worked after one application. WELL, my husbands friend said to use a mix of 3/4 BLEACH to 1/4 water. Can you guess what happened? Yes, it gave him a NASTY burn on the tender parts of his feet and he could hardly keep a sock or shoe on for the past few weeks, it was sooo bad! It's getting better now. ONE lesson learned-Don't listen to friend ANYMORE! He always gets stuff backwards! What a dork!

Any ideas about what will work?

:) Tina

Have you tried absorbine jr? My ex use to use it cause he had it really bad and it did help. Below are some links, they may help you find something for relief. I'm sorry to hear about the bleach fiasco, ouch!!!!....Hugs, Rebekka

3 . "Is he sure it is athlete's foot? It could be another fungus type of thing. Hubby has some skeevy toes, he had to scrape off the top layer of skin, put ketoconazole on and keep doing the scrape/medication until the new skin underneath would come out (bad explanation here). Maybe he just isn't getting the right thing to treat it? Just a thought. I have heard of the bleach thing for poison ivy (didn't try it myself) but not for athlete's feet."

4 . "I used bleach in the bathtub/shower to kill the fungus in there (m)"

As I seemed to keep getting it back from my son (who refused to treat his). I don't know for sure which one of us picked up the nasty athlete's foot but we just seemed to be giving it back & forth to each other so I started pouring a little bit of bleach in the tub after each of us showered to stop the repeated occurance of it & that did help. But I wouldn't dare use bleach on feet that already had broken, sore skin. Yowza! Sorry you were misguided on that. :(

If you are anywhere near an ocean that's the best bet. My brother had it for years and went swimming and it was gone!

Thanks!

Once it's under control, (even during it) I heard you have to dry your feet off VERY well as soon as you get out of the shower/bath. Make sure you get your nails and everything. Its supposed to prevent any lingering moisture from growing the bacteria. hth and good luck

If we have traded, please leave feedback here...I'd be happy to do the same for you!http://www.refundsweepers.com/dcforum/feedback/558.html

but my MIL is the Queen of old school home remedies,,, and I swear she is always right... However I have never tried this personally (thank heavens)..

Anywho, she said that for athletes foot, when you are in the shower, have your DH pee on his feet... something about the amonia or whatever killing the germs... and it doesn't harm you like bleach, 'cause its produced from your body...

:)

Please leave feedback if we've traded... Thanks :) Melissa
