Well, my mom fell and broke her glasses and they want between $300 - $350 to fix them and give her a decent frame. They said there's no such thing as cheap frames.lol Any one know where she can go???

Thanks

3 . "WOW! is her Rx a difficult one?"

That's insane! If it is a difficult RX or bi/trifocals is that the reason for the high cost?

There are always $100 deals with coupons at places like lens crafters, sears, etc. I also heard on TV the other day that you don't have to be a club memeber to go to Sams or BJ's to their optical dept. and buy. (haven't verified that but I do remember hearing that on some show I was "listening" to on TV)

I too am shopping for new glasses. I only wear them a few hours one night a week when I don't wear my contacts so I'm shopping for cheap too. I haven't been any place yet but I've been clipping the ads and coupons for all the places in town. I'll start actually shopping in a few weeks.

Check those inserts in the papers, home mailers and back of the coupon sections of the Sunday paper. My Dad got his at Sears and his Rx is usually a pricy one and it was less than $200 (frame and lenses, etc).

Good luck!

11 . "That stinks. I think that as long as the lenses are still good, she should be able to have the frames replaced. Since they have the RX for the lenses, it shouldn't be a big deal to get new frames that fit."

They both have budget friendly frames. That is frames under $100. There are also coupons out for Lenscrafter that give you $100 off your frame purchase. I do believe the frames have to be over $150 though.

This isn't the one she would suggest but they have an eye exam and 2 pairs of glasses for $69.99

http://www.twopair.com/

in the top right corner you can put your zip in for the closest place.

even beat the others in price usually withOUT using our insurance. I got daughter's last 2 pr of glasses there and when I go to get mine, will go there as well. They always have some sort of special going on for their glasses as well. Here is link with coupon for $99 eyeglasses (doesn't include the Rx for them, but that has always been cheap there as well for us) http://www.searsoptical.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/GenContent|;-1|11251|10051|/SearsOpticalUS/Offers/Offers

We could have gotton cheaper frames but we were limited because of the size of my mom's bottle cap lenses. They're more like magnifying glasses then lenses.lol

Thanks soooo much for all your input..
