I just started going to rummage sales at the end of the summer when I actually found out what a rummage sale was. I am hooked I have found MORE THAN GREAT THINGS THERE I found cloting (Abercrombie & Fitch, GAP, Old Navy, United colors of Benetton, Hollister, ect.) I usually wait for the fill a bag days which makes it more than reasonable since I am usually searching for clothing. What good finds have you found? Please post I am excited to hear and GOING THROUGH WITHDRAWAL since its winter :) LOL

The only problem for me, is that I live in a small Victorian town (about 3000 people), and there are about 20-30 "professional" yard salers that come up here,,, and I swear they are some of the most aggressive, pushy and rude people... and if there is a good yard sale you better be early...

But i've gotten tons of great stuff... some of my favorits are an antique Lane chest for $75 (I had to literally sit on it, because people were trying to get it from me), A "Keane" painting for $5 (look that up they are worth a fortune) and an entire baking set from the 1930's of "Fire King" for $20!!! I have lots more great finds... but I am such a yard/rummage/garage sale freak! My entire house is furnished through them.

I can't wait until summer!

Please leave feedback if we've traded... Thanks :) Melissa

I love having them & going to them. I used to periodically have them in winter in my heated basement. People came in droves, likely suffering from w/drawals. LOL Unfortunately, my landlord come up w/a stupid rule that we couldn't have them inside our homes & we're also limited to having one twice per year. :(
Anyway, I didn't go to very many over this past summer cuz my mom had so many sales to downsize when she moved a couple yrs. ago that I kind of got "saled out". LOL But, I usually find alot of really good deals & some pretty neat stuff. I got a practically new Maytag Neptune front-load washing machine for $40 early last summer! :) I love it!!! The sale was actually at a storage unit as the person just wanted to eliminate having to pay the monthly rent on the unit. At that same sale, I also got a very nice (& heavy, so definitely not pressed board) entertainment center for just $8. A few yrs. back, I got a hutch, a couch & a recliner, all 3 in like-new condition & $25 for all 3 together! They coordinated perfectly w/the color scheme I'd chosen for my living room (sky blue & light burgundy - rose, perhaps?). I'm into Amish things & have been lucky enough to find many Amish figurines, dolls, etc. at 10¢-50¢. I've also found antique &/or collectibles, tools, shoes, books (Oh, do I have books! LOL), notebooks & other school/office type supplies, not to mention clothing, for little to nothing. :) Alot of times too, people will put their unsold items out on the curb (FREE!) when their sale is over, & also, some people don't want to hassle w/having a sale so they either just put it all out on the curb or in a dumpster (I always ask permission before digging). :) I've found, washed & donated numerous bedding & other household items this way. When my son was younger & going thru all those growth spurts, rummage/garage sales were a financial Godsend.
We have a thrift store here in town now so that helps decrease the w/drawals. LOL
