I seem to be having all sorts of problems finding grants/scholarships. Tried SRS but since I'm an LPN they consider me as having a higher education and wont help-also contacted WIA and they cant help because most of my schoolwork is online. I am a single mom of 4 and continuing my education in nursing-there has to be something out there to help. Currently i get pell grant money but it barely covers tuition and fees, hope to find more to help with books and living expenses. Thanks for any suggestions you have!
Jennifer

Cuz I don't know what state you're in but here in WI, there's what is called FAFSA - I believe it stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. The amount of student aid &/or student loans alloted is based on the student's financial situation, number of dependents, whether or not the student has a disability, etc. There are Pell Grants, Higher Education Grants, Subsidized & Unsubsidized loans, etc. Your college's counselor should be able to help you find out what form(s) you need to fill out & give you an idea of just what all you'd qualify for. Your college should also have a Financial Aid office & your program's instructor or college office should be able to help you find scholarships to apply for. Here, scholarships for the spring semester have to be applied for by Nov. 1st & scholarships for the fall semester usually have to be applied for by June 1st I believe.
Here's 1 site you may want to check out: http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/
HTH. :)

I'm not anti-government but I am anti-b.s. so don't pretend you're the government & try to rip me off.

The FASFA is where i get the pell grant-i think the reason that its not stretching as far as it should is because the online classes are more expensive, however with 4 kids-3 of which arent in school yet attending traditional classes is impossible. Thank you both for the help and ideas-looks like im going to be busy filling out applications and writing papers.
TYVM!
